Bow Addict
200 lb max will not limit speed. There are plenty of 175lb crossbows that shoot 400fps,but a 225lb Excalibur matrix 330 only shoots 330fps.
Lawdwaz
You know, now that I think about it maybe the advertisement was for 400 FPS, NOT draw weight..............unsure at this point??
AaronBlaine
I had the Barnett ghost 400 for a while. Cool bow but when they got rid of the law the next year I sold it and took a nice hit on it too. Kinda wish I didn't sell it!

sits in trees
I've been hunting with and killed several deer with crossbows and in all honesty I really don't see the need for anything more than a 175lb draw Excal which shoots at 305 fps. I know a lot of you guys might be considering 40 or 50 yd shots because when your shooting off a bench in your backyard your producing excellent 3 in groups at those distances or even beyond. But when your hunting whitetail you will quickly learn that the noise an Xbow produces on release will almost always make a deer jump like a grenade went off next to it and you will end up with a bad shot and a tracking job that could take you over several counties. For me its become pretty simple, I keep my shots well within 30 yds and nail them every time and at 300 plus fps it works every time despite the noise on release. Yea you could get a wheel crossbow that will push an arrow to over 400 fps but that tradeoff doesn't outweigh the reliability of an Excal bow, imo. I have and wouldn't hesitate to take a 40 yd shot with my vert BowTech bow which is whisper quiet, and have successfully taken deer at that distance but would never try that with any Xbow.. Al Bundy
My hunting buddy apparently had two deer jump the string this week with his new x bow. He said the same thing, keep it in fairly close. Thunder hawk 160/320. I ordered a pink camo challenger today matter of fact for the Mrs. Literature says its 125-150 adjustable. 275-300 . Ill wind it up to 150 and get 300 out of it, hopefully.
