Curious on something folks If i am going in the woods or even on my own property to target shoot with pistol or rifle do i have to have my backtag on showing?Really would like to know.I would be you would have to have hunting license on you?

As far as I know , no you don't. You don't need a license to target shoot. As far as going off your property you may want to as a precautionary measure IMO

It's a "hunting license".  It has nothing to do with shooting...........

You don't need a license to shoot but I know in PA(Unsure about NY) During hunting season you need to have a range clearly set up and cant just walk around the woods shooting apples off trees even on private property. When I'm on the range I don't have my license but I tend to have it walking in the woods with my rifle just for the heck of it.
