BackWoods Hunter
Does anyone have any experience using a golf cart to get in an out of the woods and the ADKs? I'm wondering how well they will do in the snow and up and down the mountains in terms of battery usage.
bkln
I wouldn't trust golf cart in the woods, get a mulee propane powered, more comfy plus cargo space...just my 2 cents
martin
Just driving your car in the ADK with snow is a challenge. I had to turn around and hunt a little farther south last yr. A lot of dirt roads with ice or never being plowed. Rough terrain as well. Take compass and a couple PB&J sandwiches.
BackWoods Hunter
There's some positive reviews about electric utvs, that's why I was asking about it. Sure would be nice to get in and out with nothing but the tires on the dirt making noise.
philoshop
How willing are you to push it out of the woods if/when something goes wrong?

BackWoods Hunter
Lol. Not willing at all. To spend money on something and not have it work right that is.
b79holmes
We have an older 6x4 John Deere Gator. Pretty amazing off road & can pull and carry a lot of weight but the underside is like a metal john boat and it becomes stuck in snow pretty quick once the snow lifts the wheels off the ground. I'd expect a golf cart to be the same. Expect a real off road type utility vehicle to be better. Bill
Rick Howard
There are some carts out there that will do what your asking... but for the cost of them you could buy a side by side or 4 wheeler.... maybe both.
Doc
I don't know a lot about motoring around the Adirondacks, but I assume that you have checked out the legality of going wherever it is that you intend to ride.
turkeyfeathers
My dad was a golf course superintendent for 43 years. We'd use an electric golf cart before school to check traps. Would drive into the woods on the x country ski paths and this is pre snow. I never want to push out another stuck golf cart out of the mud. Bad idea IMO. Not much clearance either.
