Clover field killed last night.

So my Farmer sent in a big tractor and sprayed two fields with round up. Clover was't doing well. My question is will the deer know not to eat the clover? They have been pounding it every night. Just a thought for you guys. Also be interesting to see how the action is just inside the woods where we have a camera.

Yup. They will know. And you will need to follow them to their next choice.

Deer have large livers.  Seems odd he sprayed it this late in the year. Years ago, farmers used red clover for green manure plow down and never sprayed it.  They got away from that and started using oats because of clover seed prices.

I sometimes question these new fangled farming ways.

About a week ago our field and the neighboring fields they spread lime on just about every field within a mile.

I spoke with the farmer and he said they do it to raise the ph levels. After the first rain the deer and turkey were out like normal.

Lo and behold yesterday they came through and sprayed all the fields in attempt to keep the rye grass knocked down. 

We will have to wait and see what the results will be but from past experience they have always returned.

We will see what the trail cams show next week.

I texted the farmer and conformed it was round up. Will be in corn next year. They tried injecting manure in the middle of the summer but it didn't work. Horrible time to do that! lol

So after a week the field is still green as ever. Nothing dying. Funny thing is I have not seen 1 deer in that field since they sprayed. I was seeing at times 10-15. I don't get it?

After talking to my Neighbor he said they use some type of mixture that kills the roots first. Said it should take two weeks. This Oct 2nd will be week two.

Well That field will effect 2 stands on the lease property. There are 12 other to choose from. Plenty of corn to go around but yes that does suck for those two stands.

Field is turning yellow now. I did see 4 deer in it last night and two this morning. I know eventually it will die and be plowed. Nice to see them back though.

Deer sightings here have really dropped off since ours was sprayed and everything is burned off.

There have been a few passing through at night but I am not sure it is because of the spraying or something else:

I hope to work on it in the upcoming weeks. Every card pull there are at least 3 or 4
