Anyone up for some coyote hunting in Stewart State Forest

Looking to get out tomorrow or over the weekend. Stewart is now closed to vehicular traffic so I'd like to cover some ground on foot. Don't have much experience but really want to give it a shot. Any experienced predator hunters want to show a new guy the ropes?

I can't make it, but I heard a lot of DEP lands in Putnam have good coyote populations and a closer drive for you. With deer season over in Putnam, you can use a rifle.

No issues. The few times I went at night, I put a note on my dashboard saying I was hunting coyotes/fox/bobcat at night so that someone wouldn't think there was a hunter injured somewhere in the woods or something.

I went to Stewart with 2 other members from here no luck though. Let me know how it goes. Maybe I can go out in a week or two

We did call in one according to Denny but magnumhunt and I didn't see it.

Have only been back to Stewart twice since then so I don't know if there are still a bunch there or not.

go coyote hunting in van cortland park lol.  i seen a monster coyote running by the 4 in woodlawn a few years back.

Not sure of exact location, but one hunter I spoke with last year (fall 2103) kicked up a pack a coyotes in Sterling Forest on the west side of East Mombasha Road.  Said they were near the top on the mountain there.

 

I saw some large canine tracks this fall around Wildcat Mountain trail, not sure if coyote or dog as I was looking for deer at the time.  That is only a couple miles from where the other hunter kicked up coyotes hunting season.

Neither. Really just out for coyotes now. In a few weeks, won't be so picky. Very cool to see though.
