An oldie, but goodie.   This is what happens when you let conservatives put their plan into attack trying to strip away all of our liberties as Americans........

It's not "politically correct" to point out "conservative" oppression of rights.on this forum.

Only liberals are evil.

Some seem to forget when the original law was passed, it did so with bi-partisan support.  Even when it was renewed in 2006 it had bi-partisan support.

The law is not the problem.  It's abuse by the executive branch is the problem.

"Civil rights activists worried that the Patriot Act would curtail domestic civil liberties and would give the executive branch too much power to investigate Americans under a veil of secrecy—a fear not felt since the protest era of the 1960s and 1970s when the FBI bugged and infiltrated anti-war and civil rights groups."

Obama has pushed the boundaries of abuse way beyond anything Bush ever did.  But all of the scandals, which the media has refused to investigate or even call scandals, like NSA spying and IRS persecution, have been blamed on Bush for signing the Patriot Act into law.  If Obama and the Democrats really wanted to repeal the law, they could have very easily done it in his first year in office when Democrats controlled the Presidency and both houses of Congress.  But they didn't.  Anyone who chooses to place blame for the law's current oppression is blinded by political propaganda.  A sitting President is the only person responsible for any Patriot Act abuse during his time in office.

The left/right paradigm is a sham and has been for too long. In all honesty its good to hear you say that. It seems most of your comments are more toward denouncing the left but not pointing out the right is just as bad. (Just my opinion). I share a lot of the same views and im on top of All the stuff you post, but we both know that this is a two headed snake and both sides have their eye on the prize.

The left is far worse. Yes, both are bad. but the left is worse in my experience. I do believe that party politics in this country is nothing short of bought n paid for theater for the masses. There is obviously an agenda freight train that has been trundling along for some time. The left openly propels it and extols its virtues, the right pretends to resist but invariably fails by degrees year in and out.

They are all crooks and liars.

This does not mean however that real values, on both sides of the ideological divide, don't exist. I simply believe that conservative values have played no role in the direction of the US for decades now. You have to have sociopathic tendencies to be in politics full-time. Lefty values promote these more so than conservative ones. Hence the dire imbalance in the political system.

There is no Left or Right.  There is only Liberty or Tyranny.

Which Political Party would you say is most guilty of violating the US Constitution and removing most of Americans unalienable rights?

Which Party is the one that tries to create "rights" where no right really exists, in order to buy votes to stay in power?

Which one wants to eliminate the 2nd Amendment and freedom of speech?

Both parties have issues, but one party is more determined to install tyranny.

I could say and show the same things in reverse from any hack from abc cbs nbc cnn hln.  And just so we are clear wasn't the patriot act passed by the democrat run house and senate before the then supposed conservative president signed it?  Just saying.  That is like the liberals touting how great the economy got under Clinton when it was the republican run congress that pushed it to him and pressured him to do it.

The Patriot Act was originally made law to help protect the citizens. It is now being used to help protect the government. Most people don't understand that distinction, and the followers of the current administration are particularly blind to it, although the participants of that administration are definitely not.

The very same thing can be said of every regulatory bureaucracy currently in place. It doesn't matter how they were started, or by whom, or for what reason. What matters is how they are currently being used, and to what end. It doesn't take a lot of study to see where agencies like EPA, FDA, FCC, BLM, and a host of others are currently headed.

The tragic part of this scenario is that it has set a precedent that future leaders and lawmakers will almost certainly be compelled to follow. See Diplomat019's image above. The next POTUS will be handed a system that has been steadily broken from within over the past several decades. Change won't even begin to happen from within that system until the citizens decide whether they want to be governed, or ruled.
