dbHunterNY
what I shoot is usually way shorter than what I can with confidence and am set up to. I've got an area/valley where I can shoot several hundred yards but most of the time I setup to shoot within 300 yards. in the woods it's usually bow range or 80 yards through open hardwoods before things get really tight even with something like a 30-06. wildcat junkie
75% of my shots from my tri-pod are between 190 & 250yds. That is in the woods, but there is a long shooting lane across a thickly over-grown 15 acre area that was selectively logged in the winter of 98/99. I have kept the wide swath cleared where they used a cradle to haul out the logs. There are several other shooting lanes that vary from 75 to 100yds & 1 that is 45yds. greg54
My longest was 125 yards but most of them 50-60 yards with gun.
sweet old bill
woods 50 yards till the leaves come off, open field 100 Yards.. as my rifle is sighted in for 100 yards. Plus at 73 years young I sure do not want to just wound a deer.
