jimbo91
Alright, in the last few days i put a remington 770 on layaway, came home and looked up some information on it, decided i did not want to deal with the problems it has, and went back to get either a 700 or a savage. I have a tight budget, i go to school full time while i try to pay bills and start a life with my fiance, who was with me, so the 700 was out. The cheapest one they had was 600 bare gun, no scope, black stock etc... so i turned to the savage, I wanted a .270 caliber, and while i liked the 111 they did not have it in that caliber. I ended up getting an edge, with no scope on it. Now id like to buy a scope and need some suggestions, I have about a 150 dollar budget, and i would consider used if i had too. Any suggestions? bubba
look at the redfield revolution. For around 150 you can get one. Great glass great warranty. Nion Prostaff is also in that range and good glass. Cabelas has the nion prostaf 3x9x40 on sale for 99 bucks
hrlevi1
remember you cant shoot what you cant see... i made a mistake by buying a cheap scope and had nothing but problems including missing one of the biggest bucks i've ever seen - i learned! i bought a 30.06 and saved, saved and saved some more (i even sold some crap on ebay) until i could buy a swarovski. i am so happy i did. it was about a 2-1/2 year saving process however every time i had a buck or two i squirelled it away. when any event came up (b-day, christmas, anniversary etc) i'd ask subtley for contributions to the scope fund - yes they are expensive however all I have to say is WOW! The biggest part of the better glass is during low-light conditions. Unbelievable! best regards and good luck!
bubba
imho you can get quality glass without spending hundreds of dollars. I use nikon buckmasters on all I own and they are as goo as any scope I have ever seen or shot. warranty is as good or better.
letinmfly
I would also take a look at this gun. I believe they run around $500 which will give you an extra $100 or so to spend on a scope. http://www.tcarms.com/firearms/venture.php

fasteddie
I have seen the Barska scopes in the Sportsman's Guide but have never physically seen one . i always wondered about their quality . They appear to be quite inexpensive .
coyoteman
Cabelas had the Burris Fullfield II for 199 and they give you a good set of binoculars to boot. Burris has an excellent lifetime warranty.

apertureguy
We're so poor down here that when we need a scope we just curl our hands up over our eyes.

Culvercreek hunt club
We're so poor down here that when we need a scope we just curl our hands up over our eyes. try paper towel rolls...use thread on the ends....for long distance shots tape 3 end to end....keeps your M.O.A down
MuzzyLoader
jimbo... Check out the Swift line of scopes. I had one on my shotgun and NEVER had any problems with it. They have good glass in them with coatings that really let in alot of light. They are also not high-dollar scopes as they don't spend alot of money advertising. http://www.swift-sportoptics.com/rs_premier.htm
BizCT
It's not deer season right now anyway, so save a little more $ and get a leupold scope...leupold scopes are on all my guns.....22,243,270,7MM, etc....just my opinion.
Culvercreek hunt club
My 2 cents...I have one of the Atecs a guy just listed in the hunting classifieds. I love it and for a $100 bucks you can't go wrong. that leaves the other $50 in your budget to get a GOOD set or mounts and rings
