growalot
Saw few turkey this year and the "lonely hen" and her single poult...So this makes me very happy...and I do not believe I've seen them up on the hill this late in the season ever...By now they have settled down in the valley and return in late March.
dbHunterNY
I've watched a bearded boss hen in a flock of 50 turkeys. then another of 7 long beards. all younger birds though. this spring could be good.
growalot
Thanks they just love the WW/clover I planted this fall so spring should be very good...sections of this lane way will remain to seed out...some need to be sprayed down to kill off bad perennial weeds and others to drag off the shale and rocks.I'll do it in sections over a few years until it's in good shape for a legume/ grain rotation leaving grains to head out for food and nesting....about half the 900ft will go into a all around bird/deer cover food perennial mix...I just need to research what and how much seed I'll need to mix.... landtracdeerhunter
Nice to see a turkey pic.. Once we lost the insects in the hay fields mid August, turkeys moved on. Turkeys always during deer season other years, just wasn't the same this.
Mossberg500Guy
I believe this Spring will be awesome, if the winter isn't too bad that is, seen about 7 jakes and 3 toms in one flock this deer season also a few hen, just hope winter isn't delayed and will stick around through turkey season.
