Rockspek
Friend and I were driving down a road headed to a job and he pointed out a deer setting in the middle of a field. Grabbed my binos and noticed a little blood on its head where it's antlers had fallen off. The deer did not want to get up as I got out of the car and walked towards it. I'm thinking this will be my first shed find. It must have just dropped them. The deer got up and I felt bad I even got out of the truck. Barely walked away and had a big lump on it's front shoulder. I'm gonna guess maybe a bad shot that is infected now but maybe could have been a hit by a car. No shed score yet. Wish that you could know weather a deer would make it or not. Felt bad as he hobbled away.

Paula
Let's see the shed, both sides?
Rockspek
I didn't find the sheds. They have to be around there somewhere though. Earlier last fall we saw a real nice buck chasing 3 or 4 doe in the middle of the day real close to the same place. Wish I had time and permission to look harder. Hock3y24
Sounds like he got hit By a car, they fell off in impact or post from stress. Luckily I havnt seen many road killed this year.
RoadKill44
The fact that blood is visible on the head and the deer is bedded just off the road would indicate deer/vehicle accident. The big lump and struggle to limp away reinforces the reason for bedding in the open and near a road. If hit by a car the shed may be near the road rather than were bedded. I do have road kill experience - hence the name given to me many years ago. I've seen three or four deer along the road but, where one use worth bothering with, I was on another urgent mission and couldn't take the time. LOL This deer was in a field very far away from an actual road. I was on a long private drive. It makes sense that it was hit by a car tho
