Rain all week?

I'm a fairly experienced turkey hunter but have to admit I've usually stayed home when it's raining. Looks like a wet one for the very best portion of the season, the whole first week, any opinions on turkey activity, mating and calling in this weather. Do they honker down in a period of steady rain or don't they mind getting wet.

Quite a few birds killed yesterday on this forum despite the rain. They may be a little more subdued in their gobbles. Like someone else mentioned , they still need to eat , mate etc. Open fields are good because they are now relying on more eyesight than hearing. They'll go into fields and pick worms as well. Robins had a field day yesterday but yet no turkeys in our field. Not liking the cold and rain so far for nesting purposes and poults.

I agree, lot's have gone out. But it's just me personally, don't like getting soaked. I enjoy my time in the woods and being dry just suits me better. Not knocking anyone who hunts in the rain, all the power to them.

I am with maytom on this all the way. I am not o fan of getting drenched. I was able to sneak a few hours in this morning before the rain really got going again, it was still damp and I sat on a plastic trash bag to try and keep my backside dry. Didn't keep it warm though.LOL

I hunt differently than most in that I don't call. I move a lot and ambush birds. For me there is no better weather than a hard steady rain. It covers movement and dampens sound. If I was going to call and sit for long periods I would most likely stay home.
