DUDE!!   I'm in awe.  Some sweet land your on.  My buddy lives in Colorado and sends me pics and I am blown away.  Hows the bird hunting out there?  Did you post chukar pics a while back?  Stop posting pics, cause I'm jealous lol

Bird hunting is good

Lots of walking, fair amount of driving, big country out here.

What I was used to in N.Y. was walking out the door and shooting grouse and hare on my walk over to my brothers houses.

In Vermont I got used to a 15 minute trip to turn the hounds loose on bear or cats, same drive to get into my stands.

Here it took a few years to get used to a 60 mile one way drive to pick up my buddy then an hour in the truck, an hour on the horses, then a two hour walk through the forest head shooting grouse with 22 revolvers.

I walk more in one day Bird hunting here then I did the whole woodcock season in Vermont.

Different. Lots of different birds too.

Its amazing how such a large herd can blend into the landscape so well, mother nature has the best camo...lol..BTW great pictures.

I'll say!!

look at a rabbit or squirrel you'd never see people buying camo patterns like them or ruffed grouse but if they are STILL you can walk right by one.

it's the movement that catches  eyes,  I walk up to bears, bison and moose all the time and suddenly spot the twitch of an ear or the lips moving as they chew their cud and its a heckuva jolt...geez, there's a freakin buffler right there...dang....

when we hunt elk in mt and the day is supposed to rain we head to jellystone to look at elk.  we'rer at mammoth and the signs are all over the place saying to stay away from the wildlife. they also have people there to keep tourist away from the animals.  my friend pulls out his camera and starts walking across the street heading for the elk.  a woman stops him and ask him whats he doing.  he says he going to take pictures of the elk. she says can you run 35mph. my friend replies 34 on a good day.

they shot the first bulls that came in so that was a nice fast trip. everything was still in velvet and lots of bears, LOTS. the guides are still in there--- I'm going fishing, my wife says we are going fishing so I must be.

my elk tags aren't good until thurs and its still too hot to go shoot anything if it's farther away than my mailbox.
