eagle rider
Guy around the corner traded his 270 WSM (bolt) for a 270 Win (BLR),... wouldn't have been my pick..... Anyway's he offered me 5 boxes of 150 gr Win Ballistic Silvertips. Assuming they shoot as good as most other stuff (hopefully close to inch), anyone know much about these. I'm concerned mostly about on game performance and fouling/cleaning. It can be from a diff caliber I just want an idea of whether or not to buy these off him. This is the stuff,... he wants $20 a box. http://www.winchester.com/Products/rifle-ammunition/Advanced/Ballistic-Silvertip/Pages/SBST2705A.aspx
ny hunter
20 a box is a steal even if you just shoot at the range go for it..
Pygmy
Basically the same as a Nosler Ballistic Tip. Great deer bullet and generally very accurate...Sounds like a good deal to me. If your rifle shoots other stuff close to an inch, I'm betting these will shoot that well if not better.
eagle rider
thanks, I'll tell him its a deal then. I have loaded Nosler BT's in 30-06 that shoot well and are devastating on deer, so I should expect the same same from these.
Jeremy K
I shoot those in 30-06 , amazing results on deer and very consistent at the range.

Buckmaster7600
Ballistic tips were my favorite bullet until I stated shooting Barnes. I have killed a bunch of Deer with them in 270 and 30-06. I always shoot 130's out of my 270's but I'm sure 150's will do the same job. Have no fear on fouling the coated Winchester bullets are the cleanest rounds I have ever shot.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
airedale
Clicked on the link and saw the published ballistics Cartridge: 270 WSM Bullet Weight: 150 Grs. Muzzle Velocity: 3120 Ballistic Co-efficient: 0.496 ======================================== That is one powerhouse load that will rival the 7 MM Remington Mag factory stuff. I load my 280 Remington with 150 gr Noslers both the old solid base which is todays ballistic tip without the plastic tip and the partitions to a little over 3000 fps in my rifle and have had very good results from Deer to Moose, If they shoot well out of your rifle you are all set for just about anything. Pygmy
Geeze, 7600... I might be your Daddy... Ballistic tips were MY favorite game bullet also until I started shooting Barnes.. I killed a bunch of deer sized game with them, along with about 10 bull caribou, mostly 7MM 140 grain in my .280 Rem., but some with my 7MM08, also 165 grain in a 30-06.
