Turkey in Putnam County

Anybody have any success hunting for Turkey in Putnam County? Thinking about giving it a shot this spring....never tried before. I have seen them during deer season.

My old man lives in Putnam, he's shot a couple. They are there.

Plenty of turkeys in Putnam. Check these two sites for places to hunt:

I have been to many of them and most hold deer and turkeys. Get out there and scout them up and see which ones have what you are looking for.

While I have not been there a couple of my co-workers have had a lot of success there. It looks like its right in your kneck of the woods also, no pun intended.

Wonder Lake has some birds, they have now one less :-) Springtime is active, Fall not sure...

I know this is an old thread, but I am new to Turkey hunting and plan on starting this spring. unfortunately I don't have the time to scout as I live in Suffolk county. 

Not looking for any specifics or looking to take anybody's spots, just want to know if Wonder lake is a decent place and big enough that a newbie can come in pre-dawn and stake out a spot. Thanks in advance.

Where is wonder lake? Putnam County definitely has turkeys, but I never heard of the place you mentioned

Ludingtonville road right next to 84 in patterson I believe. Looking for something remotely close to a main road as I'm already driving 2.5 hours one way for spring morning hunting.

Idk these woods but I do know my success on public is in direct ratio to my scouting. Its hard to think I would be successful without scouting on any property. Bow season bonus. A flock i saw on stand.

Back in the 90’s early 2000’s there were tons of birds in Putnam and have taken a few. There’s still birds around, but in pockets.. definitely have to scout them out , if plan on sticking to public.
