Steve D
So with today being the last day of small game in my area, and rain expected to come in I decided to take the Jack Russell and .20 Gauge double for a walk. Since it was a decent day and not a lot of wind I figured I could just mosey along, look for game, look for sheds, and get the dog some much needed exercise. By the gps I covered 4.4 miles so I know she covered at least 6 miles. Didn't see a rabbit, grouse, squirrel, shed, or even a chipmunk. We did come across a deer carcass and another shed hunter who had not found a thing either. Introduced ourselves, shot the breeze for awhile and then both went our separate ways. The only game seen was two geese on the creek and one deer that was jumped out of some thick stuff on the way back. Plenty of deer sign and trash left in the woods from hunters. I really can't understand why people have to leave their soda, water, beer, juice, and food containers in the woods. Normally I would pick it up and take it out but the pack I had today would not have held a quarter of what I saw. Even found a old patio chair that someone must have used for deer season laying in a ravine. It was still a good day and right now the .20 gauge double is oiled up back in the cabinet until next fall and the dog is sacked out on the couch. Since dinner is done and with a toddy under my belt once this is posted it will be time for a nice hot shower and then watch how our president is going to DRAIN THE SWAMP Pics of today: Edited March 1, 2017 by Steve D

Steve D
Good area for sure but landowners are very possessive of their properties and a lot of it is chopped up into parcels or leased making it hard to get access. Gotta know someone to hunt around here.

Steve D
I will shoot crows when possible like off the back deck but I am not going to pursue them. For the rest of the month I will hunt coyotes under the best conditions. Hides are getting "springy", females are getting or have been bred, and they aren't bringing a lot of money. Don't get me wrong....if I see a mangy or sick one they will go down if I can get to a gun but most of the ones here a pretty healthy. I like to hunt them when they are at their prime to do me and the animal justice. Don't get me wrong I don't just hunt them for the money part of it but if I am going to shoot it a decent price is a bonus.
