But then I got looking at swamp white oak and can't make up my mind. Figured someone on here was good with trees. I got a bunch of these trees on the property. The thickest area with them is in a swampy area which made think its swamp white rather than bur.

Must be bur oak then. These are stumpier fat shaped rather than oblong. I found some pics online to see it, I think your right with the bur oak call. Thanks grow.
mowin
Great crop this yr. Last yr in our area there wasn't a nut or fruit of any kind to be found.

They only produce about every 4 years and it's a bumper crop when they do. Last year they had nuts but this year none. The animals love the bur oaks. Beach, red oak, white oak, and hickory are loaded though.

We had some last year that were 3 inches and almost entirely covered by the cap. I see if I can find a couple I picked up and post a pic.

They deff are producing some big acorns that's for sure.

The animals will grab them as fast as they hit the ground. Mother nature made it so they do not produce very often but when they do they really do. With Over production the animals might miss a few thus helping to get some to grow. When ours produce I put a cam near by. I don't think an animal missing combine to them when they start to drop. Especially the bear and deer.
