Prime Fur month

Trapping season opened up.   But from experience last year,  I don't think November is prime season for Raccoon's.      What has been your experience ?
I know a lot of the mid west guys wait until December..
I also thought beaver pelts were worth more after the weather got colder also

I believe the season (prime) will be delayed this year due to the very mild weather. In September it looked like an early fall, but since then its been very mild and unseasonable.

Headed into camp in a few days and hope to be there until December. Last year a blizzard hampered my activities just before Thanksgiving Day.

The chart is meant to be a guide not the gospel. Each area is different but usually they are at their prime by Late Nov. early Dec.

Easiest way to tell on a coon is to look at the guard hairs. Buyers like the dark colored coon with long guard hairs.
