the blur
Trapping season opened up. But from experience last year, I don't think November is prime season for Raccoon's. What has been your experience ? I know a lot of the mid west guys wait until December.. Edited November 2, 2017 by the blur

Salmon_Run
I believe the season (prime) will be delayed this year due to the very mild weather. In September it looked like an early fall, but since then its been very mild and unseasonable. Headed into camp in a few days and hope to be there until December. Last year a blizzard hampered my activities just before Thanksgiving Day. Good luck out there !!!
the blur
That chart is the mid-west. NY has no such chart. I haven't gone out yet.... as I only want prime fur. I may wait until Dec 1. I think fur is determined on day light hours, and not outside temperature. But I'm not a wildlife biologist
Steve D
The chart is meant to be a guide not the gospel. Each area is different but usually they are at their prime by Late Nov. early Dec. Easiest way to tell on a coon is to look at the guard hairs. Buyers like the dark colored coon with long guard hairs.
turkeyfeathers
Raccoons sadly aren't worth the effort to put up and sell again this year
the blur
I'm not a seller. I just do it for fun, and hang the skins on the wall....
