Weird rack?

 I am trying to decide if the close side has part of the rack snapped off or if that is the way it grew. Odd looking at any rate. Now file is attached...

Looks to me like that is the way it developed... young deer that will probably carry a big non-typical rack later in life.

Kind of what I am thinking.  That is an awful thick rack I think for a youngish buck. Anyone know about atypical racks? Is it genetics? If so.. I have seen some wall mounts of a guy who hunts close by. HUGE racks and many atypical.

That rack could be typical as he grows unless there was some type of injury  involved. Both sides are basically growing in the same manner.  If anything I predict he'd end up with a taller rack. The other side seems to have a beginning spit or sticker on first tine...he may develop good brows.. JMO

Just one opinion.....he should be removed from the gene pool so he doesn't reproduce.

The antler pedicle is small which usually indicates a younger buck... probably a hormonal imbalance that isn't producing a typical rack configuration. It does happen sometimes. Or possibly a defect in the pedicles which will produce funky racks on a buck... maybe even just a genetic trait. You never know a bucks true potential until he matures.

Nothing broken. I believe it's a young deer that could have really cool potential as early as next year.
