DirtTime
I am a big fan of Joe Robinet. I felt bad for him having to tap out on Alone, not like he quit because he was scared. I enjoy his vids, he knows what he's talking about. I also like that he explains how to do things. Was interesting to learn how Alone ( well, the company that owns them ) pays the local LEO's and Govmnt. to hunt and fish using not so legal ways and implements just to film the show. Anyway........... You have to skip to about the 9:20 mark to get to what I am looking forward too. He's doing a 10 day "simulation" of Alone. It should be good and I am looking forward to it. goosifer
I'm currently talking a wilderness survival class and have been learning a lot about survival, bushcraft, primitive methods, etc. I don't have the patience to watch the TV shows, but do watch some topic specific ewe tube videos and read a lot. Not familiar with this guy; interesting.
G-Man
Learned most of mine through boy scouts back when you truly camped. Learned to make moccasins, clothes, bow drill as well as flint and steel for firestarting, flintknapping, how to make a bow,and make snowshoes, Gorgetts for fishing , lashing, sewing, chinking, window glazing ,use of axe, basic survival plants and foods.. cooking .. I don't think they teach any of that anymore....I always look a a new eagle.scout as a bit less than when I was a Scout 30 + years ago Edited April 13, 2018 by G-Man
goosifer
My 30 y.o. stepson is an Eagle Scout and it sounds like he got taught the basics like you did. I was a Cub Scout and never made it past Weiblo. (spelling?) Trying to make up for my misspent youth.
Steuben Jerry
Boy Scout until I was about 14-15. Was a couple merit badges shy of my Life patch.
DirtTime
I was never in the scouts. But wasn't hard as a kid to build forts, lean two's, and once even a small cabin out of downed tree's. Back then a tarp and sleeping bag were a lot of fun as well.Health keeps me from this type if camping, but I still like watching the vids and learning new things. That, and sometimes I need a break from watching hunting vids.Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk
