Bipods

Which ones do you prefer?  The bi-pods attached to the rifle or the free standing shooting stick versions?

I have both types. I like the bipod attached to my rifle for varmint hunting, then I have a shooting stick for my handgun. It all depends on what type of hunting I am doing.

I agree all depends on what your doing,I also have both.

I prefer the home made wooden bi-pod . I can use it as a mono-pod , if necessary or even as a walking stick .

That is what I use --- Varmint Al's Bi-Fur Pod . I modified mine to use as a shooting stick / mono-pod when standing up and shooting .

I ripped a piece of 1 x 3 poplar into 3/4 inch strips for mine.  Picked a greenish looking piece out of the pile, which sorta of had a pre-camo'd look and put a clear finish on it.  Also, used a wing nut for the pivot so I don't need a bullet catch.  Oh almost forgot, went with the old school spoon look.

Like others, the situation will dictate the tool.  I have and use a Harris bipod and a two legged Stoney Point set up.  My favorite rest is the car window. <grin>

I have a Harris Bi-Pod.  It's good for a long shot with time to adjust the legs so the gun stays level.  Don't like it for quick/dynamic shots , can't pivot it much.
