Beating the crowds

Going to hunt opening pheasants this weekend, on Saturday I'm going north to places that are already open to avoid people but on Sunday I'm thinking of hunting around here in the evening. So my question is what do all of you do to beat the crowds during busy weekends.

I don’t go and go after Woodcock and grouse instead. No crowds, no dummies.

I honestly have no clue what a woodcock even is or how to hunt them lol, plus I'm not sure where to go for that stuff

Where abouts are you looking? I know dec stocks a bunch of WMAs around the state. I think I'm headed out Sunday morning up around Braddocks Bay in Monroe county. Family stuff forces be to miss Saturday, which I don't mind because I'll miss the craziness.

Probably going up in Oswego on Saturday then maybe three rivers sunday

Easy go out after about 11. Wait for everyone to push them out etc. then go out and hunt the midday. Your dog gets a better hunt also. I also prefer grouse and woodcock but hunt the released pheasants out of convenience and proximity to home.

You still find birds in the midday? Also do people usually hunt the evening or is that less busy.
