gjs4
Totally agree with most hunters know nothing but load 870- point at a brown thing and pull trigger repeatedly til it drops or runs out of sight. Region 9s deer biologist is a non hunter, and bear fanatic (which should only be 20% of his job)....great seat for the heaviest hunting area in the state isnt it? Again- they appear to be only about license sales. Look at all this conflicting info (which NYON surely is a culprit of instigating further) on youth hunting. Again-ever ask yourself why are changing or adding seasons and how does this matter to deer numbers? So not a recurve guy but hand it to you for making the game all the harder and more satisfying
Doc
I often wonder how any of us really know anything about "most hunters". I'm trying to think of a single person who has the resources to be able to credibly say much of anything about "most hunters". Whenever I read or hear something negative about "most hunters" I guess I probably get a little defensive about such "broad-brush" statements because of the negative image some of that kind of stuff has on us all to anyone reading it. But anyway, I really don't understand how anyone could ever know what "most hunters" do, or think or how they act. Nothing to do with this thread, but just an observation about some of the replies. nyantler
However, simple casual talk among hunters or on forums is really quite harmless and not really anything to get very excited about whether it strictly represents educated credibility or not. .. yes I agree there really isn't all that much to get excited about.. even though sometimes we do... but these are the kinds of places that some guys rely on for all their information... and some of the nonsense passed off as factual or even semi-factual is harmless in the sense that it fuels ignorance. Now I understand that you will always get some of that with an open forum.. I'm just saying that those that aren't willing to get the real facts will continue to pass on the nonsense. It happens here all the time.. someone will argue a point with an old wives tale they heard from their grampa 30 years ago as if it had any merit in fact... some young kid or newbie hunter might read that and think "This guy's been hunting a long time, he must know what he's talking about".. when in fact he doesn't... I sure do hope you are wrong about people relying on internet forums to get all of their information. That is even worse than passing off bogus info here ..... lol. Forums are predominantly opinions, viewpoints and occasionally something that is based soley on a person's logic. Very rarely are there any forum discussions that actually involve undisputed documented sources. While forums may be good for instigating thought on various issues, it probably does not sit real high on my list of credible sources of info....lol. But if you are right and there are some who are taking forum comments as being gospel, that sounds like a much bigger problem to worry about than what people are saying on these forums. I think most of the time people use that term in reference to most of the hunters that they, personally, have delt with. I agree, painting with a broad brush can be dangerous without real numbers, stats or facts to back the statement up.
