mowin
I've got two of these trees in my yard. They are just starting to leaf out. Any ideas?? The leaf cluster in the pic is only about a 1 1/2" long as it started to leaf out only a few days ago. Edited May 20, 2019 by mowin

Pygmy
The leaf looks like a locust ...Check out black locust and honey locust...I can never keep them straight, but one has thorns on the branches and the other one doesn't.

mowin
Just now, Pygmy said: The leaf looks like a locust ...Check out black locust and honey locust...I can never keep them straight, but one has thorns on the branches and the other one doesn't. Black locust has the thorns. I'll Google honey locust.
mowin
Well it seems honey locust has thorns too. I've cut down tons of black locust trees. My trees have a much shorter trunk. But I think were on the right track thinking locust. A Google search also shoes thornless honey locust. Edited May 21, 2019 by mowin
mowin
Thanks TF. leafsnap has confirmed it is honey locust.
