Last cam check today. Small bucks, first time no 8pt or better. No dead deer found from EHD at least. Instead of hundreds of acorns i found only 3. Weird. Same tight 7pt on two cams. Recently last night

Maybe the 7pt, that’s about it. Hopefully some bigger ones come through during the season, which does usually happen. I’m not gonna shoot a small forkhorn after passing them each year

Cams still slowest year ever. No 8pts. Usually have 2 or 3 different ones. No sparring pics. Little to no acorns. Hopefully that’s the reason. The one pic of main beam, maybe he’s promising?

On my way to afternoon stand and spotted this red fox. Don’t think it’s same one on cell cam. Opposite direction but don’t know for sure. 70 yards straight uphill above me.

10/1 - hunted dark to dark, no deer seen. Just the above mentioned red fox

10/2:

Hunted Dad’s land in the AM, no deer seen. Pouring rain whole time.

Hunted stateland in the PM. Found fresh tracks, fresh tree stand , old jaw, but no deer seen.



Crappy first 2 days, oh well. Maybe 10/11 the next hunt

Hate to say it Biz, but I am reasonably sure that 8pt is Buckle before he broke his right brow tine.   You can blame Tacks, along with the rest of the neighborhood kids, for his disappearance.   He was quite the traveler too.

haha. on a serious note, i'm concerned about EHD. Not much water on dad's land (30 acres) or neighbor (36 acres), but they have little to no cam activity or deer sightings either. Maybe there was a die off, but not on either of our properties. Or they are, but I dont want to trudge around every single thick area just to try to find them. We'll see. Unfortunately, I heard EHD is now in westchester (3S) also. It's spreading and 75 degrees saturday doesn't help. No frost anytime soon.
