I rewatched the episode of D&DH with Charles Alsheimer's rut predictions for this year, and I have to say, at least in my area, so far, he hit it on the nose. He said that 3 days prior to the rutting moon, we would see an increase in activity, mostly at night, but one sign would be that we would see a bunch of bucks getting hit on the roads. I can say that last week, I saw 10+ freshly hit bucks on the sides of the roads. I have also noticed a bunch of doe freshly hit on the roads in the last 3 days, including 4 new ones in a 10 mile stretch this morning, which makes sense according to his predictions. According to the prediction, now through this Sunday or next Monday is the time that the chasing is going to be at its peak. For the next 7 days after that will be peak breeding time.

It will be interesting to see how the activity plays out in the next 2 weeks. Im not a huge believer in any of the prediction models, but find it fun to see what people say and then see if it holds true.

Well i finially saw 2 shooters today.. not chasing just cruising.. they young ones have been doing that for last week or so.. but i dont consider them as part of the rut i look for mature deer activity and so far hes right on.. i expect the big ones to be chasing good by weeks end...

Had a mature 8 pt. breed a doe on the 9th eve, 60 yds in front of the stand. Tried to film but light conditions wouldn't allow. I would say that is when the main rut kicked in here. Mature buck activity has increased all weekend. I don't go by any of that prediction stuff. When I see it with my own eyes, that's when I know it's happening.
