Billyb6
Congratulations on a great trip Agreed- hard country to find a transporter for. Almost went there last year but the only transporter I could line up would only drop us on 3 fingers charley strip so we went back to the western artic herd again. Beautiful country and wonderful bull. Congrats again

Pygmy
All my AK caribou hunting was for the Mulchatna herd back in it's heyday, in the 1990's...That was some hunting....Did a supercub drop in 1999 out of Dillingham, some where north of Koliganek... Limit was two at the time and we were seeing 500-1000 head per day...Everybody got two nice bulls, and we could have killed several Booners if we were patient enough, but you can only watch so many of those big bastards walk by until you shoot one or two.. We had 13 grizzly sightings on that trip, although some were probably repeats...Nothing higher than 3 feet tall for a meat pole, so we cut brush and piled the meat bags on it to keep them off the ground for ventilation and covered them with a tarp to keep the rain off them... Had bears within a few hundred yards of the meat, but they never homed in it.. Four hunters in two tents, and then we lost one tent in a storm, and had to sleep four guys in one tent with two sleeping bags and two pads for five days while we were weathered in waiting for our pickup.....What an adventure !!

Trial153
Sometimes the best trips are the ones where stuff goes wrong!Depends on what wrong is.....i think that this trip had some potential to south really quick with covid crap added to the travel itinerary. Thankfully it didnt. Weather can bring some serious havoc as well..... guys sheep hunting to the south and east of me seen like 5 inches of rain in week..makes for some long days tent bound when you cam see 100 yards away
Trial153
Do too the location we where hunting, the distance was making it logistical hard to take a direct super cub flight in. As such we got ferried to a NFS air strip just off the Yukon river. It was repurposed from a Gold mine. It was a really cool place. There is still some gold mining taking place on an Individual level and as such some cabins being using near the original sight. After a meat load was flown out time Constraints necessitated that we overnight at the air strip, instead of setting up camp we hiked to mining settlement and used a public use cabin...it was a welcome change from sleeping in kifaru on ground for the pass week. The next morning while waiting on the Cesessna we explore a bit, some great history still there and the dredge is still down closer to Yukon....enjoy the pictures.
