savage 220 vs. H&R ultra slug

What would you prefer for deer 12 or 20ga?

I think both are good.However the 20 is more accurate at farther distances.

i own both in 20ga... both are tack drivers

Accuracy-wise, they're probably the best stock slug shooters out there right now.

I think the H&R offers a couple models and variations on stock. I don't think I'd go with the lighter barrel model H&R. I'd only opt for the bull barrel. 20 gauge would probably serve better for accuracy. Some people online reported issues with 20 gauge models a few years back but I think that there's been no qualms in recent times.

I just bought the savage 220 and I can tell u it rocks. I shot a doe at 110 yards and it did so much damage. I would never use a 12 gauge. I was use 2 3/4" Remington accu-tips . All I can say is WOW!!!!

20 gauge. Theres no kick at all. I have the Savage also and its an awesome weapon. Its nice and light . I shoot lightfields out of it now but i want to try the winchester bri's. The trigger is awesome.

Old post but, I went with the Savage 220, I know they recamend Accutips but what have you trid and liked?

I have the savage 212 and shoot the Winchester dual bond in 2 3/4". Love the gun and found it shoots those slugs best. Tried several kinds and these were the most consistent.

Good for you, Joe! You won't regret it ! But some cheap stuff sight it in, buy 1 box of each of the good stuff and see what groups the best!
