Deerthug
Thanks for the suggestion Grow. I'm actually looking at the Open Heart pendants from Kay Jewelers. After 20 years of marriage I never know what to get my wife. http://www.kay.com/product1%7C10101%7C10001%7C-1%7C172099400%7C22137%7C22137.22142.22144

BizCT
Why not Biz? Never bought from them before. Something I should know?? Come on man.......don't be had.....its a chain jewelry store. They are going to tell you its worth $5K and then sell it to you for $4K or whatever. Do some research and go to an actual jeweler. Pay for gold/silver according to what it is worth that day. Same with diamonds. It takes 2 seconds to look up what gold or any precious metal is worth. Then go to the jeweler and pay that amount. Its like idiots who sell their gold and silver to the little stands in the mall or those online ad "cash for gold". They are giving you a fraction of what your metal is worth. You should be getting at least 90% of what its worth, not closer to 50%.
tughillhunter
same here. known since kindergarten. our parents hated each other tho, lol.
Elmo
Why not Biz? Never bought from them before. Something I should know?? Larger corperate jewelers naturally go through more of a "mass production" process and thus develop a more "generic" reputation. You're buying a "reproduction" rather than the "original" model. If your wife is cool with Kay's then who cares?
BizCT
I just didnt know any wives or girlfriends were cool with Kay!
Doc
What the heck, I was thinking of getting my wife a new set of a dozen #2 coil-spring racoon traps this year so she can finally get that fur coat she always wanted. I don't know about this jewelry and pearls and stuff. But if I was to get into the jewelry and pearls and such, I know this guy down on the Main Street sidewalk that has a lot of stuff in his pockets that go pretty cheap. He promised that none of it would turn your skin green. Should be ok for a plan B wouldn't you think?
Deerthug
I'm not that stupid. I also understand about the chain store merchandise and the cost. I'm not looking to spend that kind of money. I'm just looking to get something decent to wrap and put under the tree - more so for my youngest to think that Santa didn't forget mommy. Trust me . . . Through the years I have bought her expensive jewelry i.e. necklaces, pendants, rings etc. Now they are gathering dust in a safe deposit box. She rarely wears them unless its a special occasion. The less expensive ones she lets my 15 y.o. daughter wear. She doesn't even want me spending money on anything she isn't into material things. After we were married for a few years, my father who had his own fur manufacturing business, was clearing out his inventory and gave her a full length mink coat with sable collar worth $20k. She wore it maybe 5 times since she received it and now its in storage. She would rather spend money on bigger things like vacations, home improvements, etc. Edited December 13, 2011 by Deerthug
Deerthug
our parents hated each other tho, lol. Can't be worse then me. We were 25/26 when we got married. I come from a traditional Greek background and she's from a traditional Italian family. Both sets were not that happy when we told them we wanted to get married. Picture this: Greeks and Italians in one room trying to get along - one talking in broken Greek/English (I'm sure Karp knows about this) and the other in broken Italian/English. There was a lot of use of the hands on both sides - But after 20 years, her parents treat me like a son and my parents treat her like a daughter they never had. LOL! BizCT
Not married yet, im 27. Been with my girlfriend for 3 years. Obviously the wants and needs of westchester and NYC girls are much different than those of Buffalo, Pulaski, etc. lol

Obviously the wants and needs of westchester and NYC girls are much different than those of Buffalo, Pulaski, etc. lol It's not the needs of a Westchester and NYC girl versus Buffalo. It's more 27 versus 37. My girlfriend is 33 and we've been together for less than 2 years. This X-mas, she doesn't want any jewelery or shoes. She wants me to spend the money fixing up the place. Marriage and children is on top of her mind while the latest trend comes in second...even if it's a close second.

BizCT
I'm in the same boat man. Just bought my first place in westchester after renting on the Upper East Side for a couple of years. I forgot about that already. Thanks Steve. LOL. Actually we went up last weekend and my brother in law and I both clearly and unequivocally told him - don't shoot anything under 6 points!!! Saturday evening there were at least 15 doe feeding under the stand that he was in when he "shot the doe for me" last time. My brother in law said as we were walking back to the house - "Thank God we didn't put him in that stand again". On way home Sunday he asked me if I had a muzzleloader or if I knew whether his son had one. I told him neither of us do. I told him I'm going back up Friday for bow. Thank God his season is over!!! LOL!!
