Cabela's or Bass Pro to Exit 17 of I-87

Announced at the Moreau Town board meeting that a developer wants to bring a large sporting goods store to a project in the town of Moreau.

The announcement stated the exact square footage of the Auburn Bass Pro shop........one can only hope !!!

I'm going to go raise a stink about that, the last thing we need is another place for our wives to spend money, although it would save us some gas money..hmmm lol

You know thats not a bad spot for one really, there ain't much up our way and it would provide some jobs. I'm all for it.

Have to assume BPS. Cabela's won't cannabalize Hamburg or the MA stores since they are the largest and one of the largest in the chain, respectively.

Cabela's recently announced an OH and a MI store.

I support the project and also believe it will be a Bass Pro as well. Cabelas has no store that small in their chain.

That would be better than any thing we have close now !!!

Be carefull with bass pro, they were to come to Buffalo, but they wanted the tax payers to pay for 80% of the place . BS imo.

Yea who knows if it will happen for sure, I know I heard a few years ago our area was trying to get a store of some kind by exit 12 and that never worked out.

Years ago there was talk about putting a cabelas off of exit 31 on 87. That never happend. I love the store but hate the 4 hr drive.

I know that Cabela's did a very nice "pitch" to the Town of Malta (exit 12) several years back and were shot down as the town didn't want a "big box store". Based upon the scale of this project I firmly believe that they will picth this to Bass Pro or even Gander Mtn. The Town of Queensbury shot down the Gander attempt to be at exit 19 a while back where the old Howard Johnson's motel was. Again the town didn't want a second sporting goods store in the town....I guess all we do is wait and see here what developes.

i also heard rumors a couple years ago about cabelas trying to go into coxackie or caskill off of 9w . but that got shot down . now there is a united stationary factory there. across from reds diner

I once heard a rumor of cabelas in the camden/rome area.... that was like 5 years or so ago. I sure would like to go to one of them, never been to cabelas or bps. I guess im just a hermit or something.

Tug i lived in camden and i also heard about one years ago but we all see that never happend.

It honestly would be great for the ny economy plus the little town of camden is having it pretty hard everytime i go back up there i see more and more houses for sale because theres no jobs locally. and i didnt mean one years ago lol i meant 5 years ago.
