Hunted the edge of a clover field tonight. No luck. neighbor hunted real thick briars and brush, overlooking it from a hill. Saw a bunch of Doe and a few bucks. No shots at the Doe and the bucks did not present themselves. Very tough spot to hunt.
Sorry to hear about your bad year mine wasn't a whole lot better. I'm eating my Buck tag for the first time in quite awhile. It seems most people I know and or have talked to didn't have good years. I'm not sure where you're located but if you're ever interested in making a trip up north to the tug hill area I'd be happy to meet up with you and show you around. I just got back Saturday night from a hunting road trip where I got to meet and hunt with a current member of the site. I had a great time and am looking forward to meeting up with him again next year. Sent from my moto g power (2022) using Tapatalk
We remove a section of the 15 footers, and relocated the brace to a middle location. These newer, narrow ladder stands, not so sure.
Safest coarse of action would be to contact the manufacturer of the stand. Safety first, is no accident.
We've all experience tough seasons. It part of deer hunting. Maybe deer food sources are the answer. Sounds like you have the soils to till, plant what others haven't. It does help, Late season included .
Yeah it's not good feeling that way. I felt that way last year and by 1st week of gun I was burnt out. I wouldn't even get up for morning hunts. I think its good you do some work to those fields. I keep mine mowed and get a lot of action and great pictures in those fields. Get that muzzle loaded sighted in. Best thing I did was put a scope on it. Had it bore sighted and I shot it the other day. 40-50 yards I'm an inch high. Sorry about your uncle, hope you find someone to hunt with!
Went out yesterday at zero dark thirty with my oldest son and grandson . I was in a double stand at the Northwest part of the woods by 6:15 . Sat back and relaxed . It was overcast most of the morning . Wasn't seeing anything . It was real quiet . Matt said he was getting down at 11 and would walk back on the opposite side of the woods to see if he could kick anything my way . A few minutes later I saw two bucks and a doe in the woods between our stands and North of us . I was waiting for one of them to get in an open spot when all of a sudden they took off . Apparently they spotted or heard Matt getting up in a stand on the horse trail . They hauled butt through the middle of the woods and disappeared into the thickets . So , I failed to get a shot during gun season . Bummer !
Piper Cub / Super Cub with coyotes hanging from the wings! Aerial hunting in the 1950s... and it's still done today in areas of high coyote density on livestock ranches in the upper Great Plains south into Texas.
Not yet. Sometimes it takes 48 hours. Lots of candles, bottled water and stove being used a lot.
It's an electric co-op and they quit when it gets dark.
