  1. Almost time to dewinterize.
  2. Are you referring to my original thread topic or Pat rockets?
  3. nO! I don't do that. I stumbled across the idea a while ago, then the old forum disappeared. There's quite a few we could do. I'm sure someone else could do it better. Any takers?
  4. It's been a long time coming. Hunting NY needs it's own Bud Light commercial so here goes... Bud Light presents...real men of genius... "Reeeaaaal men of geeeeeniouuuussss!" Today we salute you... Mr. forum eagle scout superethical hunter guy! "Mr. forumeaglescoutsuperethicalhunter guy!" When it's time to do things by the book, you wrote the book, on the book, on what to put in the annual rules and regs brochure at the license counter. "I wrote the book, on the boo-oook!" When it comes to being an experienced hunter, your ancestors taught the friggin indians how to hunt. How's that for credibility? QDM.........AR.......Crossbows... who gives a sh#t, you have Uncle Ted on speed dial... "Uncle ted for president!" Not only do you follow the game laws, you go above and beyond. You won't even take a picture of a trophy buck with it's tongue out. "put the tongue in the mou-outh!" While tracking a wounded deer, you call in... your whole neighborhood... deersearch..... SWAT..... the U.S. Marshalls, and the NASA satelite network. " I just know I'm gonna find it!" So crack open an ice cold Bud Light Ned Flanders of the wilderness. Because not everyone would do what an eagle scout would do. "Mr. foumeaglescoutsuperethicalhunter guy!"
  5. As hunters, we are a special breed. Our love for the outdoors is in our blood. It is instilled one way or another in us. The recent bickering is part of human nature, just like violence, yet most aren't willing to admit it. I respect all outdoorsman and women. It takes a special (dedicated) person to go through what we go through just to experience the outdoors. That doesn't mean I agree with every person's opinion either, and that's ok with me. Personally I try to base my opinions and views on what makes sense to me, what I feel is the truth. When I can't find the facts, I go with the gut! We're not the type of people to take being proven wrong lightly. I'd like to think that we're all "mean what we say" kind of people. One reason I hunt is because our forefathers did it. I think it's cool to carry on traditions. Last year I got did the legwork to get my brother a replacement hunter safety cert. I got him back in the woods. I also have my 2 younger brothers interested in taking their hunter safety course. To all you self starter hunters, the tradition has to start somewhere. Much respect. So if you want to continue traditions, preach work ethic. From what I gather here, the youth are becoming too lazy to experience the outdoors. Sorry if I'm not making sense. There's too much to consider putting in one post. This message will self destruct...
  6. Thanks for sharing your vids. welcome!
  7. <<< East Fishkill guy. So tell us... how big is your hemi? Welcome to the forum!
  8. Welcome to the site. As I read your post I'm thinking "Royce (Gracie) was 6' 1'' and 170lbs." then I'm thinking nobody would know who he is here. Then you say you want to train MMA, go figure. You should give BJJ a try first. My theory is, you can't tap out right before you're about to get punched in the face. But in grappling, you can safely quit before injured. (this has not held true for me LOL) There are lots of people your age doing martial arts.
  9. This happenned to me. I let him go. He walked right to my truck!
  10. I got Jones all day on that one. He's from Endicott & Rochester.
  11. Was using an F350 deisel, I won't tow with the 6cyl Mountaineer. I do have a Reese weight distributing hitch, it just has too many miles. I'm currently working on something, but in the meantime I can use a relatives Ranger. Our trailer has different weights on the registration than the sticker in the cabinet.
  12. Pat, I don't do the fighting in the octagon (cage). That's MMA. I do just the grappling as a hobby and for exercise. Gi and No gi. My 6 yr old does it too. Good workout. Those aren't my videos either, I just like them. Geno, you owe it to yourself to try it. Give it a few classes and really see. Don't get discouraged in the beginning either. I often feel like i went to the gym and then played tackle footbal with no pads. There's alot of good schools on the island.
  13. Anybody watch the UFC? Anybody practice any martials arts, High school wrestling? I train BJJ (Brazilian jiu-jitsu). It's good to get your ass kicked once in a while. I get my ass kicked every time I go. here's a video about it. and another inspirational clip.
  14. Maybe have it at or near a campground?
  15. Someone suggested in another thread to have some sort of gathering. It would be easier, and I'd travel farther if it were at a good campground. (with good fishing of course)
  16. My grilling skills are almost non-existent. I can roast a mean marshmallow though!
  17. Great idea. To those discouraged by the gas prices, why not plan a trip near wherever the gathering is? I'd like to meet alot of you. Time is a real mother these days too though. It's definately something I would consider. Make it a fishing derby?
  18. This thread totally belongs in the politics section, as soon as people start talking about why and how it got this way...
  19. That's reassuring to see how good you can fix them. Nice job. It's an '07 215SB? No slides, 3 beds. I just bought it last spring. It seems that the dealers have better deals on used than private sellers. I still see people asking for more on craigslist, than what I paid at Camper's Barn. Supposedly it has something to do with the promotions of years past, many owe more than they are worth??? I fought to get a pop up first until the wife proved we would use it enough, I ended up spending more than I wanted to, but I'm pretty sure I can sell out of mine if I had to. My friend bought a new Jayco hybrid with 2 beds and a slide. It's a breeze to set up with the cable supported beds, and the slide makes it so big inside.
  20. The '10-'11 winter was how a winter should be here in the hudson valley. Just enough for me.
