  1. You can catch them from shore most years. Yes, BTW.
  2. He is just trying to be friendly and introduce himself. His name is hossenpfeffer.
  3. Heavenly Father, You are great and greatly to be praised. You spoke the universe into existence. From the highest mountain to the lowest ocean trench, all creation sings Your glory. Father I lift Ana and Brian before Your throne of Grace. I humbly ask for her healing and his peace. Not peace as the world knows it, Lord, but Your Peace. The Peace which surpasses all understanding. Father I thank You for Your Word in Isaiah 54:17, which says no weapon formed against these, Your children, shall prosper. I thank You for Your promise that where two or more are gathered, in Your Name, You are there in the midst. May this beautiful couple, that You have joined, use this blessing to bring You glory, for You alone are worthy. I thank You in advance, for all you are about to do. In Jesus mighty and matchless Name, Amen
  4. I only use stand up tackle. Almost never troll. Typically start out with my satellite sea surface temp charts, find a good temp break or a Gulf Stream eddie and head that way. On the way out I am watching the radar for swarming birds or breaching whales. Once spotted (if spotted) I will get to within 1/4 mile and scan down deep with side scan sonar. Can’t mention how many time I have landed on them and either bail them on butterfly jigs or cast surface lures to them. I am considering building a 12-15 wt fly rod to use out there next. If your captain was a real salty tuna man, he woulda made you take a bite of the heart of your first ever tuna! That’s the tradition. I almost puked my first time. I prefer smaller tuna. Anything over 100-150lbs is too much work. 50-75lb yellowfin are my FAVE. IMHO, they make the best sushi/sashimi. Truth is I’d rather stay nearshore, no more than 15mi from the beach.
  5. The christening is what I can’t wait for!
  6. I thought it said scatt county lol just kidding...welcome
  7. Can’t wait to post some pics of him using it and finally his first fish on it. Stay tuned lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. The look on his face after he got done Priceless Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Tightening it up Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Carefully lining it up on the reel seat lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. He opened the reel Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Finally!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. You need to try DEEP SEA fishing for golden, yellow, or blue line Tilefish or even some Barrelfish. 600 FOW is considered shallow. I have had to use 5lb of sinker to reach them in “deep” water. Never mind reeling them in, you don’t want to check your bait lol.
  14. Ok, so daughter and granddaughter are good, now grandmother in law tested positive for Corona. She is 93 and has asthma. When will this shite go away?!?!?
  15. Apparently none of you have caught a tuna lol. Pound for pound the hardest fighting fish in the ocean. Even the “professionals” on TV need a winch on a broom stick to get them in...with difficulty. A 5lb bonito has the same fight as a 15lb bluefish which has the same fight as a 20ish lb striper. Just imagine a 1000+lb bluefin. Ive had 100lb yellowfin pull my boat around the ocean.
  16. Soon gentlemen. Dinner is now done. Just have to wait for the “boss” to say its time.
  17. The wife is making me wait until cake. I will post a pic once I give it to him.
  18. They are good eating. I cut the red meat off tho. IMHO, make them much better.
  19. Down here by me, we net or snag live bunker then liveline them during the day. Live eels at night. June is the month for the BIG girls...some 50+ lbs. End of June they get pushed out by the sharks, but they are fun too lol.
  20. So my boat guy is back at it, but swamped. He can’t get me in until May 18th. So...weather permitting...hope to have little squirrel christen his new rod shortly thereafter. I’m gonna wrap his reel (in wrapping paper lol) and give it to him tomorrow when we have cake and put a bow on his rod, although he has seen and held it. Gonna be nice to watch him put his reel on it and check it out “for the first time”.
  21. The grips/corks go on a pipe in the middle of the jig so they are centered (hard to see the holes drilled for the pipe in the pic), then they go into the “lathe” for shaping
  22. LOL I simply had the pipe. Low tech but effective. Made my own jig for corks and multi colored grips too hahaha
  23. Nice indeed. I use copper pipe and put the foam grips/corks on and use the wrapper like a lathe to shape them with Emory cloth.
