Whoa! I know i have been out of it for a bit but...... When did you become “Dr” Jerkman? What prompted the switch? I thought you were the “Teflon Don” lol That isn’t you in your avatar pic?? I always thought it was lol. Are you really using Blackbeltbill’s pic? Too funny.

Took grandsquirrel out to the lake today. He never fished before. His first fish was a bluegill but his second was a nice bass! And yes, he caught them by himself!!

Welcome to the fraternity, lol. Joining a hunting/fishing club is good advice. Try to find a mentor that can show you the ropes and get you going in the right direction. You can gain a lot of insight here, but having someone with you in the woods is far better. The only other thing you need is to be prepared to empty your savings account

I believe there is a fee for to enter Connectquot park. Rattlesnake Creek and Bubbles Falls are free and have free parking. Also, the south end of Carmens is free. There is a DEC access site that puts you between the highway and the. Train trestle, which can be very productive.

For fly fishing on LI, there are basically two names you need to know: The Connectquot and the Carmens. The “Conny” is near world class, complete with resident browns, bows and brookies. There is a hatchery there as well and they stock several times throughout the year. The Southern end of the Carmens has the sea runs, but they are not a reliable fishery. This river is stocked as well and can be very productive. Both have fly only zones in the northern reaches and have many fishing platforms (decks, perches and the like) for those that aren’t into wading, which of course is much better. DEC does a goos job of stocking most of LI and they publish stocking lists regularly. This pdf may help. https://www.dec.ny.gov/docs/fish_marine_pdf/20sprtroutstock.pdf

I second that. I hunt Suffolk and the ticks are rough. Permethrin works well, just follow the instructions. You can get it at Home Depot this time of year. And welcome BTW lol

I am hoping to get my boat back this week. After giving the guy my list and running through pricing, it turned out repowering was a “cheaper” option.

Non political corona virus thread
squirrelwhisperer replied to Al Bundy's topic in General Chit Chat
The last time I checked this thread, it was on page 8. Sorry, I didn’t read everything from there to here. Had too much going on. Sadly, Nanny has passed away. She lived through the Great Depression and helped The war effort by making uniforms for our boys in WWII. She made it through so much, only to have this damn virus take her out. Worst of all, couldn’t visit her and couldn’t have a wake. Her plot won’t even be used. Mandatory cremation. My daughter is still testing positive for the virus. She still has no sense of taste and fatigue, but no other symptoms. My granddaughter appears to be well. She has not tested positive a second time. Interestingly, my son in law never got sick, but tested positive for the anti-bodies. They want to study his immune system to see how that happened. -
So sorry for your loss. Always remember the joy he brought to your home.

Good morning, @moog5050. Any news? Rest easy knowing He is with you through this. My favorite bible passage, and found all throughout BTW, is “It came to pass”. It didn’t come to stay!!

I know ppl that keep chickens for just this reason.

So, for the benefit of the morons, like myself, morels are a mushroom? What do you do with them? I assume you eat them, but how do you prepare them? What kind of dishes do you make with them? Never heard of them before this thread.

Too many ticks on the island. They are everywhere. We even have companies down here that specialize in spraying in your yard to get rid of them. Sawyers is awesome. I have actually watched ticks walking backwards on me trying to get away from the Sawyers. The small ones just seem to die and fall off. I never hunt without it. I soak my hunting clothes with it, let dry, them am good. Between the ticks and mosquitoes, you cant hardly go outside without Deep Woods Off, in the warm weather. Good luck, Wooly. Hopes this clears up soon. Lyme disease really sucks. I don't have it but I know many that do. Just think, if you had Corona too...you'd be your own beverage, lol.

Corona Virus Thread
squirrelwhisperer replied to Al Bundy's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Sorry haven’t updated in a bit. Grandma’s fever got worse. Went up to 105.3. Test came back positive. Got a call today informing fever broke and she is eating and drinking, BUT, she is going into renal failure. Doesn’t look good, but I know what nothing is impossible for God. -
Thanks for the update. Please continue to keep us posted.
