Today the rod will take its first bend. I see all rod blanks as unique, so I don’t use guide spacing charts. I will use the reel and line that the rod will be married to and, with it in a rod holder and the line tied to my bench, put a bend in it so that the tip is 90 degrees to the butt. This will let the rod tell me where it wants the guides. By day’s end, the guide locations will be all marked out and I will prepare the guide feet. By that I mean that I file a very gentle but gradual slope into them so the thread lays on them nice as I wrap. If time permits (teacher duty for the kids, maybe some fishing with little squirrel, honey do list, prep and cook dinner), I will hopefully be able to begin the under wraps. Pics to follow.

I am not much of a beach person. I only sit there and wish I was out on the ocean lol. Aside from the occasional bbq with the fam, it would be fishing at the onset of a nor’easter. Not sure if the outer beach is open at this point. I have driven over the bridge to see the ocean so I know the parking lot is open and I see plenty of people walking on the beach.

I am going fishing until they make me leave. I will be in waders under the Smith Point Bridge for the blues and all over Moriches Bay for the schoolies, which I hear are everywhere. The marina by my house is not blocked off. Many clammers launch from there. How can they shut that down? I guess they would force them to collect unemployment?!? Regardless, I will fish until I am forced to stop.

I shoulda posted in Live from the water with more pics. Little squirrel got his first ever FW fish - crappie and I got several bluegills and a few LM bass, all on the same trip. The bass were skinny but the gills were nice. This was all in forge pond BTW. We should have a G2G out there and catch a few. I’m just waiting for the wind to die down so I can go back.

I have used a couple fresh water ramps several times recently. Lower Lake (Lily Lake) in Yaphank and Forge Pond in Riverhead/Calverton area. Both are DEC access sights.

We were warned about this in 2005 by our President.

Exactly why King Andy gave illegals drivers licences. Go to some other countries illegally and get shot or go to jail for life. Come here illegally get free education, free health care, drivers license, etc. If the dumocrats thought for one second that illegals would vote Republican, you would see the boarder wall from space!!
