My vote for his nickname is still Poo-casso -
Not being a biologist, I find it hard to age a deer beyond a guess. I have this personal thing where I don't want to take a buck unless he is bigger than something I already took. The caveat being the manner of take, i.e. bow or shotgun. Hopefully one day I get to use one of my rifles, but I digress. That being said, not only do I choose to pass almost as many bucks as I see, but I always think, "I hope we meet in a year or three." There is an over abundance of doe by me and I was told that leads to the real Giants no having to move much, so you almost don't see them. Personally I would choose a doe over a small buck any day because I have no idea how much potential he has and you see so many more of them. Besides, when you have actually seen Buckzilla and know he's in there somewhere, why take his grandson? I guess the real answer for me is...I have no idea lol great thread Biz.

Stormy, Hunter007 or Phoenix1, whatever you want to call yourself, admit it, own it and let the world know that you are back for the better. The new and improved version. Your perfect name would have been Obama, because you're bringing the CHANGE, and everyone here loves him lol. Then after you're banned again, you can come back as "Poo-casso", the BS artist. -

I LOVE sea bass. I target them from the day they open until deer season opens on my boat. Don't care for cod. Its not the cod I don't like, it's the worms. -

That last time I went, we were out of montauk in february. Not only were there no fish (like 3 caught all day by the entire party boat) but my feet were soo cold I was worried if i accidentally hit them, my toes might shatter. The last time I went was the last time I went lol. Good luck to you and catch em up, but I can't wait to never do that again! -

Let me start by apologizing to the forum as a whole. I almost feel as I helped start this "S#!t Storm" when I replied to his pvc pipe gun site. I don't have the history with Phoenix sorry, I meant Hunter007, that you all do. I honestly was trying to offer good advice. Personally, I wouldn't want to risk a shot with such a sight. To me, that's like tuna fishing with a rusty bluegill hook...not gonna end well for sure! Maybe causing trouble was his MO, I don't know, but I am sorry I helped perpetuate it. Once I saw it was going nowhere, I ignored him, basically just sat back and watched everyone else deal with him. I joined this forum to glean a bit of knowledge here and there. My mentor died after less than one season together. I have learned a lot by doing a lot wrong. Not that I am a novice at this point, but it is always better to play chess with someone that is better than you. -

Live from the DEC... Hope this helps somebody Hunting and Trapping Newsletter January Deer Hunting Opportunity in Central New York From January 11-31, 2020, there will be an antlerless deer season open in the Deer Management Focus Area (DMFA) in Tompkins County. To participate, hunters must register with the DMFA Program and download a permit, carcass tags and a hunting activity log from the DMFA web page. Registered hunters may take up to two antlerless deer per day using any hunting implement that is legal during any other deer season at the site where they are hunting. The 60,000-acre DMFA was created in 2012 to help communities in the Ithaca area address problems caused by deer overabundance. It allows harvest of up to two antlerless deer per day throughout all the general deer hunting seasons, in addition to the January DMFA season. Hunters must carry a DMFA permit and DMFA carcass tags while they are hunting during the January season. They must also record their DMFA deer hunting activity and harvests on their hunting activity log and submit it to DEC by February 7. Additional information, including DMFA boundary descriptions and a printable map, is available on the DEC website. Firearms Deer Season in Suffolk County, Long Island The regular bowhunting deer season in Suffolk County runs through January 31. The 2020 firearms deer season in Suffolk County will run January 5 through January 31, including weekends. Town permits are now only required in the towns of Babylon, Huntington, Southampton, Islip, and Smithtown. For those who missed the lottery to hunt for deer on DEC-managed lands during the firearms season, we will take reservations for unclaimed spots between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on December 20-24 and 26-31 and between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on weekdays January 5-31. Hunters may only make one reservation. For more information on reservation procedures and to see which DEC-managed lands are available for firearms deer hunting, please visit our website. For regulations, places to hunt, and additional information, please visit DEC's Hunting on Long Island web page, or contact the DEC Region 1 Wildlife Office at (631) 444-0310. This is going behind a friend's house. He has several stands located back there. So no worries. I am going to leave mine also, only packing in/out once. I chain and lock my ladder stand on public land, just in case. I love the mobility of my climber and the ease of my ladder, thought this a good compromise. I mistakenly said sticks, its more of a ladder, its one piece, 20 ft tall. The tree is straight. Thanks for the advice.

Thanks for the advise. O man, now you got me nervous. It turns out that after climbing I am soaked, then freezing about an hour later. Was hoping (that's the operative word) that climbing the sticks would cause me to exert less effort, thereby keeping my drier and ultimately warmer. Love my ladder stand for that reason. It is so easy to get up and down, just not high enough.

Bought my first ever hang on stand and sticks. Got tired of be soaked with sweat after ascending with my climber. Hoping this helps. Going to hang it above a ridge with a well used trail this Thursday. I have only been to this spot twice this year and saw a few both times. 1 medium 8 and 9 doe total first time, 1 nicer 8 and 8 doe the second. Pretty excited. Any advise? Should I wait to hunt it until the weekend or bring my bow with me and hunt it as soon as its up?
