  1. Turkey scouting in the Catskills
  2. I was fishing for a refresher on kinetics by knerhke...
  3. I had been wondering where they took that measurement and the extend to which a heart attack would deplete oxygen saturation. For instance, if blood isn’t circulating, distal blood would soon deoxygenate. I don’t imagine this would result in a large global drop in O2 sat. But then again, if pulseox is taken at the finger tip, the arterioles/capillaries there would likely O2 deplete quickly. I recall CO binding to hemoglobin with a higher affinity than O2. How high must the relative affinity be for one to be considered irreversible?
  4. What’s the wisdom on spooking turkeys? With mature deer you typically don’t want to bump them in their bedding areas weeks before a hunt as they’re likely to vacate those beds for a while. I typically do a lot of scouting during the season once noon comes around. I’ll grab my dog and go look for sign. Do you see similar behavior with turkeys were they’ll avoid a spot where they’ve been bumped from for weeks? Since dispersing a flock and calling them back in is a common way to hunt turkeys in the fall, I take it they’re not as sensitive as old deer.
  5. What are you talking about? This isn’t a political debate about fraught disagreements on race and justice. This is a shitty cop committing homicide without instigation but with a smirk.
  6. Stop complaining and start a thread about turkey hunting/pre-season scouting. I’m sure many will chime in. I will.
  7. That’s the key. Those who try to normalize this type of malignant behavior cast a shadow on the good cops that are truly serving their community.
  8. Of course you didn’t. You’re too much of a coward. You only insult the dead.
  9. It’s not mute, it’s vile. But it also shows what a POS you are
  10. I 2nd this. Ignorant comments like those do nothing but invalidate adjacent policial stances. In many ways it too sullies this very forum.
  11. A homicide by a “terrible cop” is nothing to celebrate.
  12. Don’t say idiotic things. I don’t care if you voted D or R. If you’re a social justice warrior or if you don’t think racism exists. The Chauvin case is not political or controversial. It’s clear cut. Not much of a gray area here.
  13. In your novela, one guy is a gossip and the other is a premeditated murderer. Yet to you it reduces simply to two bad people. Equivalent.
  14. You commented that there is an ever-increasing shortage of police officers due to heightened scrutiny and accountability. My point was that the way to address that is most certainly not to lower accountability.
  15. That’s not what happened here. But to be sure, your argument is that police officers should be allowed to kill if a citizen does not fully and rapidly comply?
  16. What a ridiculously contrived argument. If you have to contort yourself to this absurd extent to bend the facts, sit one out.
  17. Sounds challenging. The solution isn’t to fill the ranks with characters like Chauvin.
  18. It’s a tough job but it certainly doesn’t entail “pounding” a suspect. The training is precisely aimed at teaching officers to subdue their ego and humanely restraint the subject with minimal harm. Police are not authorized to hit or kill those who disagree with them. It is not their job to dole out justice. Chauvin should rot in prison. The more interesting question is how do you remove future Chauvins before they unjustly kill again.
  19. Let's hope it ends with good cops being heralded for their heroism and bad cops, like Chauvin, being removed from service for their ineptitude and cowardice.
  20. You’re a bore who only sees in absolutes. Hard lines. Leftist or rightist. Gun nut or anti guns. Take a breather, hunting season opens in 2 weeks.
  21. You ask these questions because you’re a religious zealot who has outsourced his belief structure to an antiquated interpretation of scripture.
  22. I have versatile Danners. They're good and comfortable. Con: 1st pair leaked after 1 season. Maybe my fault, I didn't continue to apply conditioner to the leather, etc. Pro: customer service is very responsive - they sent me a new pair. You can get most Danner boots in the $150-$200. I wonder what the next step up provides (Kenetrek, Schnee's, Crispi... ~$400)
