  1. Maui mixed bag hunt in May. I bagged a huge billy and a Vancouver bull with my bow. The next day I took 2 axis deer does. I’ll let the pictures do the talking on this one.
  2. NY turkey. I found a beautiful public land spot where I bagged my first turkey last year late in the season. I hunted the same place on the opener and bagged a Tom. It was a remarkable experience. I was unable to pull in a group of toms that were strutting a couple of hundred yards away. Eventually a very chatty hen came in to my decoy and drew all turkeys in. They displayed less than 20 yards away from me as I waited to get a clean shot at one of the mature Toms. It’s was one of those hunts where I almost wish I didn’t pull the trigger so that I could’ve kept enjoying the show.
  3. Alabama hog hunting. I went with a couple of buds in April on a 2 night Alabama hog hunt. We shot ARs equipped with night optics. Panning for wildlife at night from the bed of a pickup was almost as much fun as shooting pigs. The white hot detail is remarkable and of course now Pulsar optics are on my list of completely unnecessary toys I must have.
  4. I decided to document my hunts for the year here. I’ve been fortunate to take some out of state hunts over the last couple of months. I’ll post some pics according to chronology.
  5. Setting trail cams out in the Catskills
  6. I'm setting my 2 new reveals this weekend...
  7. Do muzzleloaders need to be registered in NYC? It takes a bit of extra paperwork to register arms in the city and I'm happy to skip it if it isn't required by law. I'm finding conflicting answers online. Anyone have easy access to the actual legal guidelines/requirements? Thanks
  8. Some friends have been sharing pictures of a lost hunting pup found with quills. It looks like he was taken to the vet but they're still looking for the owner. Figured this would be an appropriate place to share link and pic: https://www.facebook.com/groups/936560326504240/permalink/1790433771116887/
  9. Are you bothering with the lockbox?
  10. I believe the new Reveal Xs are supercharged. I'll let you know when they arrive.
  11. I'm planning to set them up next month but I'm still concerned about whether other hunters traffic the area. This is a tricky to access public forest. Only a small segment has road access and there's a creek to cross. Several private properties surround it. I'm hoping those folks hunt elsewhere.
  12. To be fair, almost 70% of Americans are overweight so those stats are going to be a bit skewed...
  13. Enjoy you hiatus! But it’ll be before fall - reinstatement is currently projected for August
  14. I ordered my first pair of Reveals!
  15. Why do you go so far out on a delusional branch for this clown? Just look at the nature of the internal conversation in the Republican Party: https://www.politico.com/news/2021/05/28/ryan-trump-gop-491336 Trump's mode of argumentation is to resort to his usual diatribes and is now calling Republican standard-bearers "losers" and "Rinos." It's disgraceful and unworthy of the office, but in that regard Trump has been extremely consistent.
  16. What were you wearing when you call them? ...sometimes you have to dress up a bit if if you want to stack the deck https://www.theonion.com/dad-gets-dolled-up-for-trip-to-lowe-s-1819579611
  17. What’s the secret to cleaning them?
  18. Jesus, the argument that has been long debunked is widespread voter fraud leading to inaccurate election results. This did not happen. Trump is a sore loser and he misled a gullible base, culminating in the horrific insurrection. It’s a fitting end to a lamentable presidential term. Isolated events of voter error/fraud occur on both sides of the political divide at extremely low and negligible rates. Move on.
  19. So now we’re pretending there weren’t audits and other processes in place, including judicial decisions, to verify the legitimacy of the election? Also forgetting that much of this took place in states run by Republican legislators and executives? The verdict is out.
  20. Trump did everything in his power to undermine the scientific efforts of his Operation Warp Speed committee. "His" scientists have spoken out over the past several months and Trump's actions are truly appalling, if not horrific. So no, history will not credit Trump for approving the funding scheme that helped expedite vaccine development. He'll be remembered for his obstruction and for his very special intuition that gave us the bleach and hydroxychloroquine gems.
