  1. This is my first year using trail cams. I picked up some Reveal Xs and set them up in the Catskills. Finally picked up my first buck this week. I think he found my camera.
  2. No “age-class diversity” or “canopy height diversity” or “diversity of food sources”? And they said it couldn’t be done… Riparian does seem more avoidable as it’s more applicable to the pocket covers we find here in our unmanaged DEP and Catskill forests. Perhaps best to not let that cat out of the bag.. Now for some coin you’ll have to drop “pahtridge” and “fool’s hen.”
  3. Can one write an article on grouse habitat without using the words “riparian”, “successional”, or “diversity”?
  4. I looked a bit into this and heating cyanoacrylate glue doesn’t seem like the way to go. Most folks take advantage of the brittleness of superglue and try to wack it out. In lab we use acetone to dissolve superglue and dental cement from titanium headplates that were attached to skulls. Unfortunately it’s not a good idea to soak carbon arrows in acetone. Either way, I’m glad Easton sent me new ones. I’ve learned how to install the Hit inserts and I’m baffled at how much the shop struggled with them. At one point they had to cut new arrows because they kept getting glue inside the inserts. I bet they covered the hole in the back of the insert with glue and the pressure in the arrow pushed the inserts out.
  5. Some of the inserts were improperly installed. Field point wasn’t flush with the shaft. Since they used super glue at the shop, nothing to be done about it. I spoke to Easton customer service and they sent me new upgraded match grade arrows. That was unexpected and very generous of them. I’m extremely impressed with Easton.
  6. And YOU'RE sick of the uninformed? Jesus, what a remarkable display of ignorance. Fake talk radio has riled you up to a rabid frenzy. I can just imagine the spittle jumping from your mouth as you type this incoherent nonsense that you compiled from memes and other ridiculous sources that manipulate idiots for clicks.
  7. A president who lies through his teeth and is willing to subvert democracy to stay in power should never be tolerated by the people. Oh wait, the people didn’t tolerate it! They voted his pathetic ass out office. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/general-mark-milley-trump-coup-new-book/
  8. Do you match the bevel to the direction of the fletching or do you think it’s also necessary to map both to the natural rotation of the bare shaft?
  9. Which one? I’m thinking about going single bevel for my moose hunt. I’ve only ever shot mechanicals so also hunting for a fixed blade.
  10. I’m very amused… My Maui guide is doing a euro mount on a trophy goat. Taking Hawaiian time into account will easily add an extra 2 years. I’ll probably have to book another hunt just to get him to finish it.
  11. Amazing. At this point it’s almost a better story if you never get the mount.
  12. Finger pointing? Is that what you‘re calling the congressional investigation into the Jan. 6 atrocity?
  13. I picked up a half dozen 5mm Easton Axis last week. I’m not happy with them - half wobble on a spinner. I shot them yesterday for the first time and they’re fine. The wobble’s gonna drive me crazy though. Thinking about checking out the match grade version. I also just got a recommendation for Black Eagle Rampage. Anyone have experience with these? They have a +/- 0.001’’ tolerance and are priced attractively.
  14. I sure do… but it doesn’t take a hunter to spot a nut
  15. …tell us more about these doubting scholars. Do they hunt?
  16. Randy has shoulder issues…
  17. Me too! I hope they get used to the camera by the opener…
  18. If I added correctly, my arrows have been in the 390gr range. I’d like to approach 500gr for my next build.
  19. Maxed out 60lb Bowtech Carbon Icon with 29.5 inch draw.
  20. I was shooting carbon express predators. The archery shop recommended them as a starter arrow a few years back and I just kept re-buying them. I’ve killed deer in MO and NY and goat in HI on 2 trips with these arrows and rage broadheads. I put zero thought into the arrow build and they shot well enough. Only issue was these arrows break very easily. Few shot arrows survived a hunt. Now that I’m belong a bit more deliberate about my next purchase, I keep stumbling into deep rabbit holes that are likely inconsequential but impossible for to ignore.
  21. You both seem underwhelmed with the options. Are you guys shooting 4mm? I was originally going to go with the FMJs but I found too many complaints about them not remaining straight.
