  1. But it’s precisely during a crisis that a president is tested and when their leadership matters. He failed and the election results reflect that.
  2. Not to ruin the moment but by incredible accomplishments you mean 370,000 dead and 2 impeachments? But you’re absolutely right, an unprecedented number of lifelong Republicans endorsed Biden. It’s crazy to think that with minimal tempering of his language, Trump could have won and Republicans could’ve held on to the Senate. But like McConnell said, the election outcome wasn’t even close.
  3. Yeah, identical to the pictures above... This was a socially distanced car rally leading up to the election. To be honest, I think that’s weird too. But half the cars there were Prius so that makes it ok Look, it’s clear that the dems and reps have a very different relationship with flags in trucks, we don’t have to hash that out further. It’s the blind fanaticism that’s so disconcerting. Especially at this moment.
  4. How amazing would a senate trial with Giuliani defending Trump be? ...talk about getting out the popcorn
  5. Just smart enough to beware of false prophets (or to not walk around with someone else’s flag). Look, there’s no basis for the belief that this election was stolen. It’s categorically false. The process has played out in the courts and the conclusion is that Trump is lying to try to either change the election outcome or to remain relevant after Jan. 20. If you’re still walking around talking about votes in suitcases, you’re not much smarter than those who stormed the Capitol. Advocates of racial justice do not advocate for rioting - it undermines the cause! There is truth to the idea that racism gives rise to the horrific acts of police violence that we have witnessed. Many of these cases are still playing out in court. The election outcome is settled. Republican judges and attorneys general have concluded that these were fair elections. To equate BLM to Trumpism is as wrongheaded as marching with a flag bearing a politician’s name.
  6. I’m a big Obama fan. He’s intelligent, measured, self-made, and a meticulous worker. I truly feel that he’s a generational president and I’m happy to have been around while he was in charge. That said, I would never march with a flag bearing his name! Ever! That’s just weird and lame. Now, this isis comparison is actually quite apt. Of course, a metaphor will never be 100% applicable, by definition, but it fits well. Isis members are effectively societal misfits with a deep wound that emerges from imagined grievances. To advance their goals, they perverted a religious text and used a false message to try to justify horrific actions. Likewise, the Trump base is not comprised of our best and brightest - We saw that on TV on Wednesday! They too feel like they’ve been left behind and feel attacked at every turn (ie. War on Christmas!). These imagined grievances have led them to pervert our constitution and perhaps even the very definition of freedom. Under the guise of “Rights”, they stormed the Capitol with the stated goal of subverting democracy, if not to hang elected officials. Sure, the atrocities committed by isis are unmatched by the Trump base. But the common through line is a blind and unexamined fanaticism. When left unchecked, it yields a self-generated fervor that fuels insane conspiracy theories and and seditious acts like those we saw last week.
  7. No question about it. He’s taking a scorched earth approach. We’ll what’s left of the party...
  8. Full grown adults? I wonder how many of these nuts are mentally competent to stand trial.
  9. Yes, by safest I meant secure. And mind you, Christopher Krebs has been a lifelong Republican and he was appointed by Trump. And no, he was most definitely not speaking exclusively about foreign threats. Trump wouldn’t have fired him if that were the case. Here is an interview: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/election-results-security-chris-krebs-60-minutes-2020-11-29/
  10. You understand that the people who entered the capitol are insane, right? I mean, there’s near consensus in the Republican Party that this election was the safest and best run ever in terms of authenticity and lack of fraud. This right wing anger and indignation is farcical, at best.
  11. If the votes are there and it can happen quickly, this would be the best outcome for the Republican party. It would give the sycophants an opportunity to finally disavow Trumpism and it would prevent Trump from 'threatening' to run again.
  12. Well, not exactly. Trump voters are not terrorists. The subset of Trump voters who broke into the Capitol, by definition, are terrorist.
  13. Yes, you absolutely are. It’s been a tough year - Take a moment to get your bearings.
  14. No, they didn’t agree with that. They attached their name to an objection that they felt would help them capture Trump’s base and further their political future. The process ultimately showed that the objections were unfounded. There was no widespread voter fraud. The constitution calls for states to run elections and for their judiciary to settle disputes. In this election, the constitution was upheld. In regards to Biden and Antifa, this is old news and has been addressed already. This should help you: https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2020/10/01/fact-check-quote-attributed-biden-antifa-missing-context/5885435002/
