  1. It's sping!!!spring!!!! He's out getting some "tail", get it? .... bad joke.
  2. Every day is better and better, another morning if multiple gobblers all around me, I almost wish I didn't punch my second tag...... almost. Things I learned, be aggressive, don't be afraid of public land, always have fun and be aware of your beautiful surroundings! If I can make a few days near the weekend I am Pennsylvania bound. Hope I never forget these days in the woods or take them for granted.
  3. Social media pictures are the devil!!! It's about the hunt not the kill!
  4. This year I have hunted mostly public. Only 2 days private. It makes a difference for me. I'm driving 600 miles a week and hiking every afternoon looking for sign that silent birds make. 13 days in for me, NY only so far. If I'm lucky enough to fill 2nd tag I'll try Pennsylvania. Scouting ast week of April was really key for me.
  5. 250yds coming this way on regular food pattern I'm hoping. Worth the wait.
  6. Had 3 birds work off onto private I can't hunt. 2nd time there, I suspect they are henned up and look forward to continuing the harassment in the future. We hunted til noon then we decided to check on the trout in that area. Not disappointing. We caught over a dozen, mostly small but a 10" brook trout is largest one I've caught in a while. Picture quality bad, time spent with my brother..... Quality. Today I'm hunting 1 big single Tom that I have seen in the past week. With the weather being funky I'm just set up where he lives, haven't called yet because I haven't heard a turkey yet. Deer hunting this bird today.
  7. It depends on how many birds are on your properties. I have had multiple birds come in silent. Lots of tree gobbling. Jakes being dumb. In my experience turkeys seem hotter when the folage first opens up and I suspect hunting should be good for next couple weeks. There are many turkeys near me but it took me a week to find them after the Batchelor groups broke up. It's turkey rutt, it can change in any moment. I've been out every day except 1 and heard gobbles most of those days. I think its all situational per each bird individually.
  8. Same by me. And we are on big land that i haven't seen many hunters long ways from the road. It's something environmental imo. I'm also confused.
  9. I have enjoyed hunting turkeys this year emensly. I made it a point to focus all of my energy into public land. I can hunt my lease anytime but I like tax free meat, lol. I have done 1o/11 days(went to syracuse mets game for mothers day), only left the woods before noon twice, one day I had to be responsible, and today I filled tag #1 @730am. I have seen and heard so many amazing things this spring. I feel so fortunate. Today it culminated in a double with my best friend. Our kills happened 1.5 hours apart but it couldn't be more of a double.
  10. This early season has been great. Birds are starting to get vocal, I've made some Rookie mistakes but I'm having a blast. Have been near Gobblers 7 out of 10 mornings, have heard more gobbling on public than I have on private. Set up under a Jake who told on me, I never saw him there until after daylight. He busted me, and sent 5 gobs gliding off. They did give me a show when he started putting. (I hunted those birds again today they seem to be spreading out.) Had a stud come in silent, I saw all the sign around and I just rushed through and bumped him. He busted me. Today I Called a hen in, she had 2 red heads with her, at daylight, and when she got in the logging road she just didn't like something and putted off with her studs. I did a monster circle and came in from another direction i did get to have some back and forth with 1 of the birds but they walked off with thier grumpy girl. I feel fortunate to have this many birds to hunt, it's been a great early season. Scouting is so worth it. We all want to be under the roost, but sometimes you just have to sit in a tall spot and listen. It's paid off for me this year especially. Ps. Those eggs are from a mallard, it was on top of a ridge and the only water around d is spring fed diversion ditches.
  11. Look for the largest clearings. They have great noses I would avoid the scents because they will smell you Aldo. Set up crosswind of fresh sign and lots of long views. Be patient, it's very hard to kill a bear without bait or driving large tracks of land with many people. Have fun its a beautiful place. Also look for moose sheds around swamps with big moose rubs.
  12. Works great, leaves you hydrated
  13. I went to clear booze and seltzer water, with a piece of fresh fruit sliced.
  14. I would in theory, I was lucky to harvest a bear four Years ago and the family really enjoys the meat. They won't go by me without a shot.
  15. I am asking because they are fun to catch on light tackle. I think we used to fish around peese eddy or something like that.
  16. Is there still a shad run in the river?
  17. Not many products that are truly made in America. Cost is often times inflated due to our sense of entitlement and desire for material crap.
  18. #24 Actually shed hunted this property pretty thoroughly and knew I had overlooked this little goldenrod filled pipeline. Snuck through it to do a mid morning call, run and gun. Turns out it's not a match to any of the others from this property. Turkey Season continues, apparently shed season is still happening also.
  19. Have been using them all season, helped me with a shed and turkey scouting has benefited greatly.
  20. Little live bait from today. Only 1 gobbler at daylight off the roost, 6 gobbles then silence. Patience is a virtue. Sure are pretty things.
  21. Tried to move in under some birds we found yesterday. Kept pushing in slowly, found a good pinch point around 445 sat down and prepared for the morning to begin, as the sun came up we realized we were directly under the flock and the chaos ensued. Had some pokes at the 2 Jake's in the group, gobbling all over us and big boys just rolled on uphill. No breeding behavior imo. Just regular chuckle heads looking for love still. Good times!!! Going to try to get uphill of them tomorrow. Plenty of gobbling near me til 730 am.

  23. Had 5 or 6 fired up early. Couldn't get 1 to commit. Had some hens in the mix. Now just working this ridge. Walk 200yds call and sit for and hour..... repeat. Sure is a nice day.
  24. Lol, and wild turkey seems like it's not doing shit to keep the bugs off of me... im so confused.
