  1. They seem to be gobbling at night and in the morning at least so far this year from my scouting. Heard birds as late as 10am. I guess this is how it usually is for me. Much like deer turkey rutt is basically same time every year. Imo Weather affects how they communicate sometimes, and nests can be discarded or destroyed and restarted if the hen chooses to, but basically turkeys are active all month. Scouting will always be worth the work.
  2. It's never too late. Your the teacher, his life is what you make of it for him. Some kids just need more time or a different focus. Make sure to keep it fun.
  3. This makes sense. They are doing deer depredation in and around ithaca. Shooting deer over corn feeders and throwing them in a dumpster to rot. Insurance companies hate deer, and have at least in the past threatened dec with litigation. We kill between 25 and 60 does every year and every year they are back. Urban deer are tough to eliminate. Also Guys would take fully auto m60 deer hunting if it was legal, doesn't mean they will kill the deer.
  4. Also this may or may not pass? It's been on the table many times in one shape or another.

  6. With 1 more day before turks I'm wrapping up shed season. Honey-do list tomorrow. It's possible I'll find a couple chasing turkeys but I'm done with the bone only adventures! 19 keepers including 3 pairs and some trash gets me 23 total since January 1. It was a fortunate year for me. I enjoyed it, and I walked Just over 100 miles. Half of these were from public land which is probably why I'm averaging 1 shed per every 5 miles.... I will try my best to hunt these public land deer in early October.
  7. Don't feel inadequate, be careful you don't get addicted. Big part of shed hunting is gathering info for next season. We love pics!!!
  8. I've missed plenty when I first got mine.... then it got crazy, you can cut thier heads off with current guns and chokes. That's all, no one is saying your a sissy. Just making sure you understand the choice you make regarding pattern potential while shooting at turkeys.
  9. Still a few out there. Trail cams anD turkey scouting find.
  10. Awesome. Great buck.... just surprised I don't see wolc with a 2.5yr old on this thread yet
  11. Diets don't work. Lifestyles do. It's about intake vs. Output. If you don't use energy you don't need calories!
  12. I'm all in also, many people have a "can't" attitude, imo many of those people are lazy and complacent. Do your own thing, I shouldn't have commented in this way. Clearly it upsets people and I apologize for that.
  13. Simeons on the commons is great and we love the raw bar. The Heights Cafe in Cayuga Heights and the Ranic golf club restaurant I think its called Parrilla now. All fine as #(ck.
  14. My bow gets it done just fine, this won't change anything for me, it's not the weapon that makes the hunter. Also most guys complaining about thier shoulders are just lazy and dont do any self maintenance. Lazy guys don't affect my hunting. Anything proficient at killing a deer is a good addition to the list. Atlatl is deadly in the right hands also.
  15. Lots of 2.5 yr. olds out there for you! You will do great!!!
  16. Many places offer that setting. 25,50,or 100$ a plate I guess is what I'm asking
  17. Ornithology is cool for sure. We have lots of hiking trails around. I think is finger lakes land trust spots as well as the finger lakes trail. You at least gotta tell me what level dining, we have great food but also swanky spots because of cornell. Every type of Asian cuisine, no great steaks anymore but everything else. Imo boatyard has fell off, its very cisco truck, but around the comons are some Gems.
  18. Idk about that. 60+ is pretty amazing. Your always welcome!!! I'm at just under 100 miles.
  19. What type of food do you like? There are many options here. Simeons on the commons, the Rook, too many to name. Taughannock is great, may be a little better, also Treman park just south of buttermilk is awesome also. The lower park now has rainbows spawning in it from the lake. Cornell campus is really beautiful and the ithaca falls on the east end is a must. It's located in fall creek neighborhood. Also loaded with spawning fish.
  20. Isn't Scottsdale in Phoenix? I lived in Prescott Valley for 2 years, hiked all over, trout fished in oak creek canyon, really unique landscape that's for sure.
  21. We did a week in Portland Maine, food, sights, and of course Cabelas....
  22. Definitely nice having that tight choke and being able to sneak around. 2nd half of May is thick by me, all the stickers and prickers are in full effect.
