  1. Can get it done in any of those forests. Hunt the hottest freshest sign and dont be afraid to move in on them. Watch the hunting public videos and be aggressive. State land has realitvly low pressure but Clowns walk all over, so you have to hunt it like your gonna throw it away afterwards and try another setup in another location. Early season use onyx or.huntsrand and hunt the ag thats closest to harvest.
  2. Last night grilling with my family at our local waterfront park. Can hunt below the low water mark with floaters.
  3. Thats it in early season..... you gotta get creative
  4. Is this a mostly ny website? We dont need no stinking mineral!!! Hunting deer is a year round activity for me. I dont need to feed or entice the deer to give them the old slock. Scout, scout, scout til tour boots wear out
  5. its good for the earth to leave the carcasses. Also they won't rot in my garage. Lol
  6. Check out the yearly kills its not a great likelihood in the catskills but its definitely possible. I stack the freezer with early geese instead.
  7. There's no excuse to be anywhere your not supposed to be. There are many free apps to GPS your location and show property boundaries. Public land is great hunting.... no one really hunts it. If people realized 10 guys on a 1000 acre private lease was 100 acres per man and then i see 5 trucks on 5000 acres of public all season. The math is simple for me.
  8. Lol, start with binos and a spotlight, work up to hiking boots and a small game gun. You.gotta be in it to win it.
  9. True that. Southern zone was staying at 5 not sure about this year, was getting duck and rabbits at the same time.
  10. Pressure cook.them into pulled meat and do tacos and sliders!!! Marinaded in speedie sauce and grill medium rare
  11. I'm hunting stateland and some fingerlakes. Spots. Check the laws but its great hunting on the lakes too. Rivers and state parks hold birds. Its pretty productive for my freezer. You would be surprised how many "go aheads" i get in the ag. from farmers that are.sick of the sky carp crapping on everything. The Montezuma state land is really productive but you have to get out deep off the road and some spots you need to sign up with some ny waterfoul agency
  12. Every day and every hunt has different design. Cull deer and overpopulated areas get more kills then my buck spots do for sure.
  13. Sounds like your ready my man. Oats and alfalfa fields til the corn comes down. They are loafing on all kinds of water. What part of the state are you in?
  14. I think pygmy has got it.. Juveniles are flying now. Locals are showing off their new babies. I see feed sizes and roost sizes grow from mid August on!
  15. I work for it, spending a fall sweating hoping to see a bear, missing work and spending money is a tough sell for me. I'm sure I'll get it together someday. Instead i fill the freezer with goose, and ducks later. I think the foul is a better table fare... early season is great, lots of ammo, no plug, and dumb birds. Almost as good as turkeys. Did I mention hunting 30 minites after sunset for first season..... So I'm grinding, looking for the x all day when I'm on the road and smashing beaks on the way to work in the morning, during lunch, or evening feeds. You can wear your bow gear, Relatively low investment. Barrel for your deer shotgun or cheap pump with a bird barrel, with some steel. 2 dozen silhouettes. Many land owners seem happy to let you shoot the geese too! Find a field with some birds. Pattern the birds. Get some permission,, throw out your dekes the same way you saw the birds you scouted , hide like a mofo and smash!!!
  16. I'm ithaca area. Birds all over!!! Little early to be on the x
  17. Is everyone ready for early goose?
  18. Didn't you say it was in New York? You wanted to have fun with drama and got served
  19. Who cares.... bums will be bums. Some guys play fair and some guys cheat. Thats the world we live in.
  20. Who cares.... bums will be bums. Some guys play fair and some guys cheat. Thats the world we live in.
  21. Shore, I've got a boat, only ever wanted it during flood stage. 2 dozen mallards and blacks on Texas rigs. Bigger spread when im closer to the car along the west shore. Would be sweet to.have couple dozen floater canadas.
  22. We had some fun at daylight for an hour or less woodys mallards and a greenwing..... unbeknownst to me it was also pheasant opener. We counted 80 shots between ducks and pheasants before the flight slowed tremendously and we packed up. I hunted the res. A few times, alot of common mergs. And some geese. Few puddlers. Mostly easy access with my kids and we usually get a bird!
  23. Anyone hunt north end of Whitney Point reservoir? Dorchester park? I hunted waterfoul there last year and saw plenty of deer sign?
