  1. I see what you did there..
  2. I've never used either unfortunately but i've heard great things about both. Spend the $30 for the 3.5"! You'll always have the choice of shooting those shells if you want too one day. If you go with 3" then thats what you're stuck with.
  3. I really hope you're right but exposure is what will get the message across and right now it's all about destruction and not solutions.
  4. I saw this earlier this morning. Very smart man that seems to really know what need to change to benefit everybody. But do you think we'll see this on CNN or Fox or any of the big news channels? I bet its more people throwing rocks through windows and flipping car. The media alone could have a positive impact on all this if it was on the agenda...
  5. Looks like a good one to me
  6. Wish I was closer, I would take you up on that offer. Unfortunately I'm on the other side of the state. Me and a buddy just started hunting hard for the dogs a few years ago and even tho we haven't had a ton of success getting fur on the ground we have a blast doing it! You can't beat those 3am stands on a cold full moon when a whole pack starts singing right in front of you!!!
  7. I heard it was so most people were home from work and the kids weren't at school. But I agree, it certainly gives those savages an advantage and extra difficulty for law enforcement.
  8. I bought a 2014 Sierra early this year and they just sent me the GMC catalog and I was looking at the Canyon they put on the front page and it looks like a sweet truck! I can't give ya much input because I've never actually been in one but I did see that they have a very similar interior as the Sierra's and I love mine. Very comfy and tons of connectivity for smart phones and music and such.
  9. Learn how to properly skin and tan the hide and then contact a few taxidermists or other places and see who is interested in it. I'm not huge on killing something that I don't plan to eat either, but when the landowners are asking me to thin the heard because of problems with their livestock I don't mind. And atleast you'll be making use of them and not just tossing the whole thing in a ditch.
  10. I couldn't tell you exactly how much, we don't typically get a real hard freeze while we're still hunting ducks here. But I would think 3 inches wouldn't be too much of a problem with a good size sledge. Once you get a good crack the rest comes easier.
  11. If you can wade in the water your weight might just do the trick. If not then we've always used a sledge hammer to bust it then we slide the broken off pieces under the ice thats still there. Give them a good shove and theyll just keep sliding and get right out of your way.
  12. lol i think he's talking about your picture
  13. You're going to have a bunch of people on here tell you 'Let them go so they can grow", which is fine for a horn hunter. But in my opinion the most important part of being a good deer hunter is having the experience to back it up. The guy with 5 small bucks is going to seal the deal more often then the guy that just watches them through the binos and waits for a bigger one. With all that said if your goal is a racker and thats what matters to you then don't let me stop you! Good luck
  14. Little off topic but... ^^^100 posts for me I have no clue how you guys get thousands lol Sorry normal conversation may resume
  15. I agree with you 100% g-man. I am a firm believer that every person should have and exercise the right to defend their family and property (within reason) and the consequences that come to the guy on the other side are deserved no matter the outcome. Unfortunatley, so many people seem to have the "forgive and forget" attitude which can shift the blame to someone just trying to protect whats theirs. Which is unacceptable.
  16. It is unbelievable how so many people can act so lawless without knowing the facts about what you are rioting for. The only thing they have accomplished so far is living up to their ghetto stereotype.
  17. Numbers is the name of the game. Here in eastern NY we get lucky every year and get a few straggler snows that are mixed in with the canadians early, but once spring comes around and the real large flocks of snows hit its a totaly different situation. In my experience it's nearly imposible to get 400 (or more) snows to decoy into a 50 bird spread. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, it just seems like a real difficult thing to accomplish. So the only way to get the numbers and not break the bank would be to go with wind socks or cheap silos. The more the marrier. With all that said, if the birds are in the area, I can't say it'd be a waste of time to hunt over a small spread and bank on stragglers and small group. After all a bad day in the field is better than a good day doing pretty much anything else. The biggest thing in my opinion would be to hunt where the birds want to be. That could really make or break how successful you are, large spread or not. This is something I've wanted to try for a long time now I just need to stop spending every penny I have on canadian decoys, I have a slight addiction when it comes to those suckers. Good luck and let me know when you start seeing the birds around!
  18. The woodie was only banded a year ago and it was in a town west of Syracuse, I forgot the name. I have 8 canadian bands so far and the furthest away was banded in central Canada, but I don't believe I have any birds that were more than 3 years old so thats amazing that you came across such an old goose. He needs a special spot on your lanyard.
  19. We've really seemed to lack the mallards this year in comparison to years past. Geese is a different story though, we've had great goose hunts ever sense September. I am in Saratoga by the way. I just got my hands on a nice large pontoon and begain the process of making a duck boat out of it, but it will be some work and certainly won't be ready until next fall. Also I have a 12 week old black lab at home so that is something else to look forward too come next hunting seaon. Even though it's been a slow year for ducks around here I did shoot my first duck band this year. Beautiful male woodie in a swamp I hunt around home.
  20. Congrats UnderDog! That's a hell of a good start. Keep it up!
  21. He sounds like a diehard deer hunter but maybe turkeys in the spring is a good way to keep him in the woods. I know it might not be the same but just being in the great outdoors can be therapeutic in a lot of ways.
  22. My "Like Quota" is at 100% right now, and I am willing to sell them at $1/Like (I accept paypal). PM me with the comments that you're interested in
  23. That means it's almost time to pull that shotgun out and start busting some brush for those bunnies and grouse!! I've always had good luck in Rome/Utica area.
  24. I lose my hunting beenie every friday night and IT DRIVES ME NUTS. I feel your pain.
  25. Guess thats a good way to figure out if she really likes you... I personally would go buy a cheap hanger and set of sticks and hang it yourself. Little extra money but alot less hastle. Plus then you can hunt even when she's not around.
