  1. Seeing a lot of movement between the days of rain here
  2. With just a couple more weeks to go .time to button up a few honeydew projects and a few things at work before we head to the big woods. One more Trip up to the Woods drop some supplies pull game camera cards and then it will be nothing but hunting.
  3. Let’s all take a moment to remember. Lets all never forget !!
  4. We have had terrible luck with the local club . Sounds like your clubs should give some advice to the ones in our area . One year a few members decided to ride up over and jump there sleds off the silage and haylage bags on the neighbors farm . Tore the bags all up leaving all the feed exposed . Next year another few sleds decided to run laps during little snow in a remote hay field leaving the farmer no choice in the spring but to spend money to reseed. There are more incidents but if your local clubs are well organized I’m sure you will have better results. It only takes one to make everyone look bad . I’m pro wheel and track access for recreation we just have had some issues.
  5. It really depends on whether you like seeing more snowmobile’s from your tree stand then deer . Nothings worse than finally getting a few inches of snow get out there in the woods all sudden start hearing all the brap brap zip zip and here come the sleds. I’ve seen a lot of this where season isn’t even over and they’re all over the place . We stopped giving a local snowmobile club permission to run the trail through our property. People just won’t respect the fact that the sleds were not supposed to be operating until after the gun season was over. You grab a couple weekends because you got some time off to hunt and then every 20 minutes someone ripping across your property. Don’t get me wrong I know I might sound quite sour I’ve been an ATV’er and previously was a snowmobiler but it just seems like a lot of people don’t respect The landowners trail limits . If you do let them cut across your property tell them STAY ON THE TRAIL THE MARKED TRAIL IF THEY DONT CLOSE IT OFF TELL THEM TO BEAT IT . Our local snowmobile club usually talks a really big game but then usually no one answers the phone when you’ve got complaints .you hear nothing you finally call troopers or sheriffs department to get some response. Not fun
  6. 7 x 57 Mauser rifle with Williams iron sights. G2 bow CVA howling wolf
  7. I remember Our local school would close for the opening day . Wool rich plaid and buying shot shells at the gas station and hardware store. Remember blaze orange camo patterns coming into style lol. Life was good it was simple but rewarding.
  8. I’m sure your father would be happy. The rifle looks excellent. Sorry for your loss.
  9. 7p is a interesting tag for me . I never Get one at the counter when getting my license . I always pick 4 and 7p for the wma but 7p always shows up in the mail later when I do get it . Not every season but probably 50 percent of the time . I would think your chances are better while there’s more tags available earlier during license sales .
  10. I would like everyone to have a great safe season .i wan to make a couple memories with my son .this is his first year with gun in hand . We have a lot of hunt skill and safety skills to work on . It’s going to be great.
  11. Our slide in camper had the two hot to cold furnace without the thermostat also. Your hunting accommodations are looking much better now .
  12. We started hunting the cedar river flow area from a truck camper years ago .quarters were tight but we had good hunting and was nice when the weather went to hell . Couple seasons I went by my self and felt like I was at the holiday inn express with all the camper to myself.. miss those trips now . Some of the guys aren’t with us no more .. good times when I think of that setup .
  13. Disturbing to say the least . Punishment for animal cruelty is little to nothing in this case. Sad really sad .
  14. Early muzz is a favorite week of ours as well . The woods has a different feel to it that week . a great way to start the hunting season off . I think we will have the camp packed and pulled out by thanksgiving.
  15. You should not have any problems finding good looking head gear out in that corner of Otsego County and schoharie county. A lot of wall hangers around from those areas. Decatur is another quite local area just over the hill from Worcester.
  16. I was out in summit area today as well . Drove right past the lake and up the hollow road . Another nice area
  17. Not much talk of northern zone big woods lately around here. Early bear will be happening before you know it. Bow ,Then muzzle will be on . I’m headed first weekend of aug to bushwhack in for our backcountry camp. Get some fire wood cut and prep a site for the tent setup. We will drop a couple cameras and get back to everything when muzzleloader starts . Anyone hiking in or canoeing in for the hunt this season . It’s hard to believe we are headed for August already. Hope to spend 10-14 days at camp between muzzle and the end of nz rifle .
  18. Came thru Worcester today coming back from working in Richmondville . The local church there used to put on a strawberry shortcake day every summer . Serving out on the front lawn . Nice area all around there . Congrats
  19. What do you think or know the finished weight of the sticks and stand is . Everything looks great. I drag a couple hang on stands and basic sticks for climbing around during season . This setup looks slim line compared to mine lol.
  20. Thanks for sharing the pictures. Gettysburg is amazing place and it’s sad to hear that it will be changing just because of a few . When you hear the history through one of the interpreters or when you view it through the cyclorama at the museum . It really leaves a empty spot in your stomach to think of the thousands of men who died on our own soil. Too many times in America , many forget that we have spilled blood or on soil for these freedoms
  21. I’ve had some luck early season with a can call . I think it was curiosity but it was definitely helpful to bring him another 75-100 yards .
  22. Anytime spent with the family feels great . This is a free ny state campground has 12 sites . Just call and reserve your spot . yes it is a slice of heaven
  23. Spent a few days here at hunts pond new Berlin ny . This has been a favorite of ours for a few years . Campsite are right close to the lake and fishing isn’t bad with worm or lure . Paddle and relax then repeat.
