Thanks I found it lol. That is the most used button for me. I like it a bit more each time I log in. Just takes some time getting used to and finding things again.
-
So far I dont care for it. I guess over time I will get used to it. One thing I do wish you would include is a "NEW POST" option so we can just click on that to read all of the days new post instead of filtering through each catagory. I know there is a latest post section off to the side but it is limited. New Post option are a big hit on all the other forums Im on. Its easy.

3600 pictures a day on 8 AA alkaline batteries? That would be almost 440,000 pictures. LMAO either that article was blowing smoke up someones ass or Primos should be into the battery operated vehicle business. Now I didnt read that article but I am willing to bet you that it stated the standard power source of being 8 AA right. Did it say that they had the 6 volt power pack plugged into it for those 4 months I bet not huh? Just another way to market something with leaving out the details lol.

I went out to Arizona a few years back in Kinghman to bowhunt mountain lions. A friend who is a guide out there took me from farm to farm looking for them. I never got a shot off but I can say that if you ever seen one in the wild there is zero mistaking it for anything we have in NY. They are not shy by any means atleast they werent there, If you pinned one down and it felt threatened the first thing it did was climb a tree to get above you. The guide said it would pounce on you if you came within its striking area. Strange the way they hunt for them out there, they just drive from farm to farm and the scouting was done at the farmers front door. Guide would ask if he had any cattle killed in the past day or 2. if the farmer said no we moved on. I seen dead cattle where a mountain lion would fill its belly and move on, then the next day you would see another dead cow and see where it was partially eaten. I was told that they will not consume an animal from a previous kill unless they were desperate. After seeing the devistation first hand of what they can do to cattle I have a hard time believing that a travel pattern could not be made from their kills alone. A squirel isnt going to cut it for them beast a whole hind quarter of a full grown cow does though. If there are indeed ML in ny wether passing through or hiding it would take alot of meat to feed one and there would be tell tale signs of kills from it, it would seek the easiest meal versus chasing down a wild deer if it came across such opportunities as a penned up field of cows.

Oh hell yeah. My GSP is twitching at the window looking at the songbirds in the feeder. She is a bird aholic. I love the time when the woodcock migrate through the area and you get a mixed bag of grouse and woodcock in the woods. Fun time and great to get out in the woods again for some dinner and dog time. Its also a nice little break for some miday bird hunts when the whitetails are not cooperating.

early 2000's so I would say 8 to 10 years ago. I still have it with a bird barrel on it now but its got more dust than anything I own. I hate the things, families got a couple newer 2 or 3 year old mossberge 500 they bring to camp and they dont impress me either. I dont recomend them at all.

Yeah cause its cheap......

Yeah a big question. I googled the crap out of it and heres a couple things I found, apparently they are having sd memory card problems with the camera which seem to cause the camera to lockup or not reconize the format once it has been removed and a few said they could not turn the camera off after they inserted the memory card. I can attest I had this similar problem with one of my cameras and it turned out that it would only except an sdhc memeory card and the readear on my laptop could only read sd memory cards and it casue all sorts or quircky problems until I bought an accesory for my laptop to plug the sdhc cards into. The other thing is I found zero and I mean zero mention of battery life anywhere. However on Primos Q&A on the camera there is one question as to why the battery life is so low and another of what type of battery to use. Primos basically said the short battery life was probably caused from the amount of daylight in particular areas of the country so the camera was running for longer periods of time. On the type of battery they recomend using only alkaline batteries and not rechargable or lithiums. One thing I missed is that the camera only functions during the daylight. And it has a range of 200 yards.

Arrows, what are some good ones? Anyone buy new ones recently?
wdswtr replied to burmjohn's topic in Bow Hunting
Those are the only arrows I will shoot because they are not light. They are one of the heaviest hunting shafts at 11.1 grains per inch. They indeed are a smaller diameter than most carbons on the market. I want grains for penetration and a shaft with backbone that is almost indistructable. I hav shot all sorts of carbon arrows and aluminum and I have not found any other arrow that compares to these. -
What's the one thing you don't want to do while bow hunting?
wdswtr replied to First-light's topic in Bow Hunting
Man over the years I have done some rookie mistakes. Using the climber and get all settled in and go to hoist the bow up but never hook the string on it, dropped a brand new 300 dollar pair of binos out of the stand and of course they hit the only rock below my stand and broke in half, of course the release falling, I remember once in the begining years of deer hunting when I was 16 i had a real nice buck in my scope when I pulled the trigger and heard click never loaded it, I wont even tell you about the time I drove to camp an 1 1/2 away and totally forgot to put the bow in the truck she who must be obeyed was more than willing to bring it down for me NOT. Sure am glad those rookie mistakes are behind me now lol. One thing it taught me was keep an extra box of shells at camp for every gun I own, keep a spare gun down to camp along with my old trusty backup bow, an extra release and a backup safety harness oh and los of toilet paper lol. -
I've shot each of my new broadheads once into my block target, and I may do that one more time. I will end up buying another pack of them right before season just to have. As for sharpening them, my experience, and I wont speak for everyone, is that if you shoot BH arrows into a target 1, 2 or 3 times, usually its not enough to dull them up much. Always sharper is better of course. IF your really worried about it, buy a second pack, and either swap the new ones out before season, or get a pack of replacement blades if you can. I personally never had good consistent results sharpening BH blades. When I took my archery course, the instructers had a neat DIY trick to determine if a BH needed to be sharpened or replaced...Take a roll of masking tape, and a fist full of rubber bands...put the rubber bands all over the tape roll so that they criss cross the hole of the roll and make a "web"....The instructors then took a sharp and a dull broadhead on an arrow and by hand, inserted it into the web of rubber bands....the dull one did not cut the rubber bands, it merely pushed them aside. The sharp one cut a bunch of them. They then said that rubber bands are similar in elasticity to that of tendons and arteries in a deer. It made sense to me, and I tried it at home with a dull BH and a brand spanking new one out of the pack, and I got the same results. So that is sort of my "checker" for blade sharpness. I tell you what I would and will never ever take afield a broadhead that I have shot through any target without sharpening it or replacing it period. I have a very similar story to yours and when I took my bow course the instructors kept pounding it in our heads that if you shoot your broadhead just once replace it or sharpen it. He said it over and over and jumped at the first chance someone laughed at him. The instructor said okay lets do a demonstration. He opened a brand new package of thunderheads and shot one into a 3d target. He took a piece of elk hide and challenged the guy to stick the arrow through it. The guy tried and after much struggles he finally got the broadhead and arrow through the hide. The guy was all proud of himself and until the instructor said okay now take this brand new one and try the same thing. It sliced right through with no problem. The guy said point taken.

Well it was a couple years ago maybe they have since changed their policy. But I also am wondering if the dealer never gave my name to PSE and they just assumed it was still owned by the original owner. I guess it might be a good ideal to remember the name of the original owner if anyone buys a used bow lol. You may have just gotten lucky. From the PSE website: LIMITED LIFETIME WARRANTY ALL PSE MANUFACTURED BOWS / ACCESSORIES / KI NG PRODUCTS Each PSE Bow is backed by a PSE Limited Lifetime Warranty to the original owner for the life of the product. Product will be replaced or repaired to restore it to its original performance. Cables, strings, or wearable items are not covered by this warranty.

Wow most of those dots are where our local zoo's are lol.

I personally wouldnt pay 10 bucks for a mossberg ever again in my life. They are rattle boxes and I have warped more than one barrel on them. First time I did it I thought it was a fluke. Ordered a new barrel and it happened again, called the dealer and he said well you cant shoot too many rounds through them without letting the gun cool down. Dang man I only shot 10 rounds through the piece of shit at the range.

You clearly made a point that you indeed missed. Like you said a food plot lures dear into an AREA and a bait pile lures a deer into a spot, rather a specific spot.
-
I read a bit about that new food plot camera. It take something like 3600 pictures a day with a 3 minute review time how the heck are you suppose to see whats in the pictures in 3 minutes lol. Thats 20 pictures a second. I thought about getting one just for fun watching the foodplots. I dont hunt over my plots at all. Never have either. Something about it just doesnt sit well with me.

PSE bows warranties are transferable. I bought a used PSE at a yardsale a couple years ago just so the boys could start flinging some arrows at targets before they are able to bowhunt. The limb pockets on it ended up being broken and I took the bow to a PSE dealer and they covered it under manufacture warranty and I got it back with no charge. You guys talk about Golden Eagle bows got me chuckiling cause I got it worse than you guys now. MY backup is a Golden Eagle and my newest bow 2 years old is a Browning and by far my favorite bow I ever shot. PSE made the bows for Browning and now Browning has closed their archery division. Browning told me via email to address all warranty concerns with PSE. PSE told me sorry they no longer support them. I guess that is as good as an exuse as any to get me a new one next year lol.

What's the one thing you don't want to do while bow hunting?
wdswtr replied to First-light's topic in Bow Hunting
I tell you what guys it happens all the time at camp. One guy does all the cooking and the rest of us sit in our stands with our bellies gurgling holding back that awful pain. At this point its not about being quite but getting down out of the stand belly aching the hole way one small step and the slightest movement as possible not so you dont stir up the woods but better yet so you dont shit yourself before your camo is around your ankles. Yeah it sounds funny but its not when it happens. I decided this year Im not eating anything he cooks anymore and if I do im sitting in one of his stands lol. -
WOW man it looks like you are sitting out of one of my stands in the same setup. One of my favorites but a long hike to get to it and wind needs to be perfect for mine. Your gonna love that spot.

If you cant get the chalk to stick whiteout works well also. I have used whitout on my vanes and look for where it transfers on the bow to find out whats going on. All neat little tricks to get you back on track. IM not familiar with that rest but if at all possible rotate your knock to get the cock feather in a different plane on the bow. I shoot with cock vane down but have a different rest than you.

For a minute there I thought I was back at my grandparents house 15 years ago listening to gramma and grampa argueing again lol. Thanks for the rekindling som eold memories guys. You too are funny.

NYDEC: New Report Released on Deer Hunting
wdswtr replied to HuntingNY's topic in NYS DEC News and Annoucements
Wow just think it only took them 5 years to come to a conclusion lol. -
send letters for crossbows in NY
wdswtr replied to sits in trees's topic in NYS DEC News and Annoucements
I cant even get through the first half of what NYB writes. Although they are not anti-hunting they sure do work off the same stupid one track me me me me mind that the anti-hunters and peta donkeys use. What a joke they look like. -
Take a piece of chalk and rub it on the bottom of your rest. After you shoot a couple arrows look at the chalk mark and see if it has rubbed off. If it has then that is where your vane is hitting. I think what you are experiencing is your knock height is off and to compensate you have lowered your sight to get on target. Like WNY said get a bow square and a pair of knocking pliers and a new knock and realign it then move your sight up if that is what is going on. If your not comfy doing it take it to a pro shop. Its a very simple thing to do yourself with limited knowledge and the right tools.
