1. Im sticking with my previous post. Both 2010 pictures have no browtines and both are a big 4 pt. Both 2011 pictures only have 1 browtineon the same side and both are a 7 point. All 4 pictures are the same deer.
2. I do believe you are suppose to pump each handle in unison. It speeds up the splitting process. So as your pulling one handle towards you you are then pushing the other away from you so there is constant fluid running to the cylinder.
3. Here we go a rut question turned into the ever loving crossbow.
4. I understand but if you pause the picture when its legs are showing and blow it up it looks like it has hoofs like a deer and not dogs feet.
5. I dont see 2 drop tines, what i do think is like you said the 2010 pictures are the same deer and I also think the 2011 pictures are the same deer. But the one picture is too fuzy to be sure, what makes me think this is both seem to have only one brow tine and antler mass and height looks similar. So my conclusion is all 4 pictures are the same buck.
6. I get a landowners permit as well Burt and every year they have asked me for my tax assement papers to show proof of ownership and acreage. Not once have they not asked and I have got it at a couple different places over the years it just depends on which place is open when I am ready to buy.
7. I definatley say check out the work beforehand and maybe get some references. A bad job might not just be it looks bad but in a few years time things might start to fall apart. Some of the best deer mounts I have seen come from the hobby type basement taxidermist who are not overwhelmed with mounts so they take their time and get things right. I see alot of deer mounts where the taxidermist doesnt take the time or the care when they are scraping the hide to work gently around the wiskers and they fall out. A deer mount without its wiskers is a poor one in my opinion and shows less care taken when being mounted.
8. I see them behind my house once in awhile sliding down a nice mudded up path into the salmon river. They are a playful creature.
9. Funny you mention the field diary. At camp last year we were going over our notes on the rut and the conclusion we all came to was that we have noticed the rut getting later over the years. Diary is at camp or I would look at it right now and throw some dates down. Its wasnt really noticible until we wnet back quite a few years but it indeed is what we have seen. Use to get the rut during late bow but now its been falling during the first of the gun season on my hill. But then again you get like 20 different descriptions when you ask 40 guys to expalin what the rut is.
10. Not to mention it helps to keep a local employed.
11. I dont think its a hairless peruvian dog, In the begining of the video when its standing the body shape is too different, chest is small and narrow and a peruvian has a big chest relative to the size of their body, looks real close though. I wish I could remember where I seen a picture of this thing before as it described what it was. But I think its campaigning for the presidency couldnt do any worse ???
12. The problem is everytime they get a hit on the videos and the more they are talked about the more its feeds them and the trolls that agree with their pathetic attemps at making hunters look bad. I read once maybe it was on here dont remember but it said trying to win an arguement with an idiot just makes you a bigger idiot for thinking you can win. Now dont get me wrong Im not calling you an idiot by any means it just means that there is no sense in making a comment to them as it just keeps feeding them and you or anyone else isnt going to get through their tiny minds. Their minds are made up and it will never end with these anti's. But hey good for them Im glad they dont hunt its just all the more backstraps and places for us to hunt in.
13. enlarge the picture, at the bottom where the date is draw a straight line up between the 2009 and 04 till you see the limbs on the ground that make an x then look closer lol.
14. I understand what you are saying and you can hunt almost 4 million acres of state land in NY. From what I personally have seen over the years is that after opening weekend the pressure is minimal. You just cant stop on the side of the road and walk in a few hundred yards you need to get in there away from these guys. State land has been just as produtive if not more so for me and everyone in hunting camp with me. Yes I own land and have access to a fair amount but the state land produce just as well for me my land that borders it. You just need to put in some time and do some scouting to be produtive if you arent able or willing to do that then I wish you the best.
15. Down to camp a couple years ago a dec officer making his rounds stopped into camp and we got talking about coyotes and he told us to have at it anytime as he would not and said most officers would not even blink an eye over it. Wish Icould of gotten him to sign on that.
16. All I can say is when Im in the woods sitting in one of my tree stands Im thinking about naked ladies and when Im with a naked lady all I can think about is being in my deer stand. LOL You are the first 19 year old I ever heard say that they would rather be in the woods than with a naked lady. You sure your not in the closet??? LOL
17. If you read the bill you might also notice that the legal implements that are allowed to use during the regular season is missing something else besides the crossbow. The compound bow. It list pistols, rifles, shotguns muzzleloaders and long bow. NO cross or compound. My camp is in cortland county and no compound during the regular season disturbs me a bit. I'm pretty sure they mean all bows when they refere to longbows. A better question would be are you allowed to use a 410 shotgun with slugs in rifle country? Legal implements says a shotgun has to be 20 guage or bigger.

Implement Description

Bow Long (stick), recurve or compound bow with a draw weight in excess of 35 pounds. A legal arrowhead is non-barbed, has 2 or more cutting edges and is at least 7/8 inches wide.

Crossbow A bow, a string, and either compound or recurve limbs with a minimum width of 17 inches (tip of limbs, uncocked), mounted on a stock. The stock shall have a trigger with a working safety that hold the string and limbs under tension until released. It shall have a minimum overall length from the butt of the stok to the front of the limbs of 24 inches and be able to launch a minimum 14 inch arrow/bolt, not including the legal arrowhead. It shall have a draw weight of 100 to 200 pounds.

Muzzleloader Firearm loaded through the muzzle, a minimum bore of .44 inches and shooting a single projectile. Scopes may now be used during the Special Muzzleloading Season in addition to the Regular Big Game Season and the Early Bear Season. See Muzzleloading section of regulations for special requirements during the muzzleloading season.

Handgun* any centerfire pistol or revolver. Barrel length maximum is 16 inches (NOTE: Possession of handguns in New York State requires a NYS Pistol Permit. New York does not recognize permits issued by other states.)

Shotgun* Must be 20 gauge of larger and fire a single projectile, rifling in the barrel or choke is allowed

Rifle* any centerfire rifle.

Trying to figure out why that is a better question and what a 410 that illegal to hunt big game with have to do with the new bill?
18. Its been coming down hard here since after lunch time. Was cutting wood in it all afternoon. Soaked from head to toe but it felt good not sweating up a storm lol.
19. You wacked down a maple tree? What where you thinking? That is a big no make that a huge no no in my book. You made every maple syrup producer just cringe lol.
20. Doc I think you make a good point. I can tell you I just dont talk much about trapping because there really isnt much to talk about. It one thing thats sees very little technological advances so it would be like talking about the same thing over and over again. Traps are still the same except maybe a new dogproof trap that hits the market once in a blue moon. There are only so many different ways to set a trap and processing the animal hasnt change like ever. The only thing that really changes is the fur market. Most times when someone comes up with a new set that works for them they keep their mouths shut so they can cash in on the fur and not their neighbor. I always looked at trapping as my time that I share with my kids and not the world. Another thing that makes me keep quiet about it is I had my fur shed broken into and lost alot of fur once years ago so I dont let people know I have a work shop with hundreds of dollars of furs all ready for selling in it and I have had way too many traps over the years stolen as well so spreading the word around the neighborhood is a no no if you want to keep your furs and traps.

It list pistols, rifles, shotguns muzzleloaders and long bow. NO cross or compound. My camp is in cortland county and no compound during the regular season disturbs me a bit. I missed that one. Sounds to me like proper attention just was not paid when the bill was written up. Just think of how much wasted time and money they will have to go through to fix it. What I find odd and leads me to believe it was a mistake is this http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/35010.html notice cortland county is in yellow and then take note of the weapons it list as legal in regular season. This contradicts the bill.
22. Yeah and apples falling off the trees ca mess with your camera too. I had 138 pictures of nothing but a ground with more and more apples on it every picture lol.
23. Whats goin on with its hind legs? Looks like matching tumors or something.
24. If you read the bill you might also notice that the legal implements that are allowed to use during the regular season is missing something else besides the crossbow. The compound bow. 25. dont think that is a piebald, its the way the sun is breaking through the trees and shining on the deer.
