Looks like the state is going to do another culling at the vassargrounds again.They say that the deer population is out of control again,This makes me mad because they shoot them over bait and durring the night time hours.Last year they killed about 90 deer no telling how many will be takin this year.I think they should tranqulize them and move to a new location instead of killing them.

My brother has given me some venison chops.How to cook them?Iv'e never cooked or eaten them.

Well thats the end of a not so good deer season/gun.Got in the woods about 530 sat untl 8 and nothing so picked up my things and went walking walked for about 4 hours and not even a tail.I didnt even get a shot off this season but I'm thankfull to be able to be in the woods enjoying nature.I did find some great spots that I will be watching for next season.Time to do some smallgame and see what happens.

We sure do not get the winter's that I remember as a youngster.I can remember going out durring bow season and have snow shin sometimes knee deep and temps barely getting to the freezing temp.Shot gun seasons were always freezing and within the last ten seasons it hardly ever get's cold/freezing.I sure miss the day's when getting ready to go hunting walk out side and bam frost/cold nostriles frozen instantly.

Last day of shot gun for Dutchess County.I'm normaly a sit still hunter but since sunday is the end of the shotgun season here I'm gonna do some turf stomping hope to put something down,I know it sounds bad but brown is down for me and I have the tags for my area.So to all that are going good luck to you and the ones that are not congrats to your deer thatyou have taken.Back to Roscoe Monday going to bring my bow and my 410 for smallgame.

Cant remember the last time that I seen a frozen/icy lake.Mid 90's im thinking was the last time I went our seasons just arent the same as they once were.

I have a bunch of firearms,my favorite is my dad Reminton 1100 semi in left hand I'm right handed so dont shoot it often.My most used is my mossberg 16 guage bolt action.

Hey all would like to know if there is a good piece of state land to hunt in or near to Roscoe/Livingston manor I'm going to be working in the area and realy dont want to miss the few day's of gun season we have left.I do not have doe tags for that area but that's ok I have my Buck tag.With the time I will mostly be scouting and posssibly put a big Buck down,Any sugestions and is this rifle or shot gun?

Wondering what baits to use when water is around 35to40 degrees.What are some good winter baits,I dont think fly's will work this time of the year any suggestion's.

The only law that I dont understand is in my area we cannot hunt deer with a rifle,shotgun only but can hunt yotes with any caliber rifle.What could the reason for this be certainly not population. -
The show I'm sure is fake they are showing us a piece of history.I myself enjoy the show legal or not it's fun to watch.

Should be a great day think the wind direction is the key.I was hunting last saturday and found that deer are most likely to move east to west and not north to south,not to sure if it's all wind related or the amount of human activity in the area that I hunt.

I know it's your choice but have to ask what/why would you want a tactical stock?I'm not saying it's not a nice firearm just this is going to be for deer hunting not to play with.Guess i'm just old school and dont understand the modern age.

Not sure why but even when fishing our back tag is to be worn.So I'm fishing and is 100 Degree's with no shirt wher do I pin the back tag?

Thank's hunter,It's a little late this season next season is going to be the greatest for myself.This season I have put together a note book full of ideas/suggestion's and will start using them soon after July 4th weekend.Everyone/member's are very helpfull with info.Sometimes we disagree but in the end we all are living for the land.

I also live in Dover got a small piece of private land that I hunt other wise do most hunting on state land.I grew up in Hyde Park and it was allways good hunting until they started the land clearing behind the Mooseclub I was able to hunt from Market street up to the Moose.It sucks that they build where ever.

Well after hunting for 6 day's with no luck I decided not to go hunting.So I spent some time doing land search and found aprox 2500 acrea's of hunting/state within a fifteen min drive from my front door.My season just got a boost should be no prob getting something down now.Goodhunting to all

Yes very few indeed I hunt just south of Amenia and not very many not even in the places where I normally see them,very strange.

Hey all I'm not having much luck this season and have'nt heard of many deer taken yet.How's every other Dutchess county hunters doing.Early season was looking good then they the Deer have disappeared/gone been out every day since opener and seen only a few but nothing in range.

Since we can not bait them is/or do they sell atractants such as they do with deer,if so where do they sell it?I ask because i have seen them durring the summer and have not since.

I hav'nt shot one but have eatin them and enjoyed it.I think that you would have to butcher the same way as beef need to drain as much blood as possible then hang and let it cure for couple days.

Congrats on your sucsessful opening weekend.Mine isnt going to well only seen 2 deer in the past 5 days to far for shotgun.
