I've never put sights or a scope on my turkey gun, so maybe I don't know what I'm missing. But I've always liked using the bead sight. Like they've been saying, you gotta shoot it no matter what, but don't feel disadvantaged if you decide to just shoot with the beads.

We'll be there. I always start out at the public access off of lower Eelpot Rd, getting there two hours before light to hold my spot. I don't join the derby, but myself & a few of my friends have made it a yearly tradition to spend the first few days of trout season down at camp. We fish, bullsh*t by the fire, shoot lots of guns & cook a bunch of greasy food.

I got mine the other day. It's an Excalibur Matrix 310. I wanted the Matrix 330, but it's not NY legal. Yesterday was my Girlfriend's birthday & I got her a Ten Point Turbo XLT 2. She was really happy. We can't wait to sight them in. I want to get it dialed in and feel comfortable enough with it to use it this turkey season. I spent way too much on toys this winter, but you only live once!

So sorry for your loss. I lost my 14 year old pit bull last April 31st. She was my best friend. It still hurts bad. Just yesterday I found an old photo of her that I forgot I had. Cried for 5 minutes.

I have to disagree with you. I'm pretty sure it was you who began the insulting. Someone expressed dislike for a group of people with certain ideologies. You took offense, & made a direct personal attack on that person, likely with the hope that others would jump in & the group bashing would ridicule him into silence. Let me try to put it in perspective before you say "He started it with the comment about liberals". There's a big difference between his "insults" & yours. Example: I'm a state highway worker. Some people don't like us for various reasons, & while I may not be happy about it, they're entitled to their opinion about us (so while you may not like it, and you may feel his reasons are faulty, Papist is entitled to his opinion about liberals) Whether or not you agree with why he feels the way he does, is of no significance. There is a big difference between someone saying "Those fat, lazy, overpaid state workers" (what Papist did to liberals) & someone directly calling me fat or lazy, (what you did to Papist). I'm used to our crew getting the bird as people drive through our work zone (Papist to liberals) but I'm going to be much more offended if someone stops, gets out of his car, singles me out & gets in MY face (you to Papist). Was it necessary to allude to mental ilness? This seemed like an attempt to get others to join in the ridicule. (Strength in numbers) Name calling? Seriously?

Respectfully, I think saying "really, we should be talking about hunting" is short sighted. If even half of the "radical right wing BS" is true, eventually hunting will not be a reality, at least as we know it. We can stick our heads in the sand and choose not to be concerned with what's going on, but that's a personal choice. Attempting to stifle someone or to censor certain subject matter is bs. There are plenty of non political threads on this forum. No one is forced to read these.

I just took some of my overtime $ and bought this muzzleloader. It's the exact one I've been wanting for awhile. I'm going from a Traditions Deerhunter (sidelock) to this, so I'm not sure what to expect, but I've heard good stuff about this gun. I have a lot of fun with my sidelock, but I wanted something to use all season, that could reach out farther than my smooth bore 20ga. I also bought it because they opened rifle in Ontario county where our camp is, & it was either buy a rifle or the ML. I can use the ML anywhere, so I think I got the best of both worlds. It came with a nice camo sling & I bought a camo Nikon coyote special 3 × 9 with stainless steel Weaver rings & base. I got it from Beikirch's in East Rochester. They mounted the scope & bore sighted it too. Those guys are great, I won't go anywhere else.
