So I'm at my inlaws having rabbit and homemade wine....

The homemade wine makes everything go down smoothly. LOL! Believe it or not he's 79 yo and still is as strong as an ox. He comes and does my fall and spring cleanup by himself. If I'm home and I know he's stopping by I'll help him but he always manages to come when I'm not home. It's nice pulling into my driveway and seeing my lawn mowed, trees pruned and flower beds weeded. Though I love doing that myself as well. -

We finish eating and my father in law tells me to follow him out to the garage. He opens the garage door and there I see a brand new shiny red self propelled lawnmower. He says this is for you. The one you have is too old. I thank him and think to myself "maybe he's after my DMP for next season, hmmmmmm..." LOL Or he's just being nice. The mower I have is about 15 years old and it needs a major tuneup (which he usually does for me being that he's a retired landscaper). -

I just get new mouth calls every year at Dicks at the end of the season on sale. There should be a Dicks near you.

I just thinned out the sound boards and reassembled the call. What a difference it made! Thanks for the tip NY Antler. Works great! Can't wait to test it out this May! -
Sounds like it was a lot of fun! I really wish I could have made it out there. I'll definitely be there at the next one.

So I got an idea to make my own turkey box call using 1/4 inch poplar for the base, paddle and sides and pine for the blocks. I must say it came out pretty good, altough I need to work on getting the tone right

I got this idea to build a bow stabilizer myself out of a steel painters extension pole cut to 24", a 5/16th" 24 bolt and nut,1/2" PVC end caps and plasti dip, packing peanuts to shove inside the pole to deaden the sound. And the results are:

He's just as excited as me. He's already asked about camping this summer. Gonna have to head out and pick up some camping gear. But I'm definitely not going to visit Camping World based upon their brilliant Anti-hunting marketing move in pulling their sponsorship from Trumps Apprentice. -

Thanks guys. I'm really proud of him that he stuck with it. Not too many boys his age (11) continue onto boy scouts. I unfortunately stopped at the Star level and never made it to Eagle. I'm hoping he finds it to be a great learning experience as he proceeds forward with it. -
Tonight my son received the arrow of light and officially became a Boy Scout. I can't wait to spend time with him camping and doing so many outdoor activities.
